Book & Author details:
Title and Author: Lichgates (Book One of the Grimoire Saga)  by S.M. Boyce
Publication date: October 15th 2011
Genres: Fantasy, Young Adult

Synopsis:
Fans of The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, and Eragon will enjoy this contemporary remix of the classic epic fantasy genre.

Kara Magari is about to discover a beautiful world full of terrifying things—Ourea.

Kara, a college student still reeling from her mother’s
recent death, has no idea the hidden world of Ourea even exists until a freak storm traps her in a sunken library. With no way out, she opens an ancient book of magic called the Grimoire and unwittingly becomes its master, which means Kara now wields the cursed book’s untamed power. Discovered by Ourea’s royalty, she becomes an unwilling pawn in a generations-old conflict—a war intensified by her arrival. In this world of chilling creatures and betrayal, Kara shouldn’t trust anyone… but she’s being hunted and can’t survive on her own. She drops her guard when Braeden, a native soldier with a dark secret, vows to keep her safe. And though she doesn’t know it, her growing attraction to him may just be her undoing.

For twelve years, Braeden Drakonin has lived a lie. The Grimoire is his one chance at redemption, and it lands in his lap when Kara Magari comes into his life. Though he begins to care for this human girl, there is something he wants more. He wants the Grimoire.

Welcome to Ourea, where only the cunning survive.

My Review

Welcome to Ourea, where only the cunning survive. says the book blurb and God, its so true! :)
Ourea is a magical world where anything is possible and often its more terrifying than calm. Kara was a normal human until she accidentally came across Ourea and now her life is changed forever. I loved the world of Ourea and am very impressed by the author's expertise in creating a different and unique fantasy world but still able to connect the reader with it!

The characterization is also admirable and I loved the characters of Kara and Braeden. Both have different goals but still together they are a team. The chemistry between them is built slowly but very sensitively by the author. I was hooked from the first page and didn't stop reading until I had finished the whole book. Definitely a new addition to my loved books list.

I give Lichgates (Book One of the Grimoire Saga) a 4 out of 5 and strongly recommend that you read it as well as the other books in the series Treason (Book Two of the Grimoire Saga)Heritage (Book Three of the Grimoire Saga). I am definitely going to pick the next book in the series now! :)

"Life requires balance. Though a dandelion is never as stunning as an orchid, we would never appreciate a flower's beauty without also appreciating a weed's simplicity. Therefore we must accept that there is evil if we are to understand what it means to be good."

I received the book from the author and the tour organizer (Xpresso Book Tours) to read and review and I am very thankful to them. The above review is my honest and unbiased opinion and in no way influenced.
