Sweet Water by Christina Baker Kline
From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Orphan Train comes a beautifully wrought novel about a daughter's search for the truth about her mother's death. Both a Southern literary saga and a psychological thriller, “it will grab readers from the first line" (Chattanooga News-Free Press).

What she needs is to win the Great Centennial Race now that her late husband has left her penniless. So Kate reluctantly turns to the famous adventurer Lord James Bennett for help. Once, long ago, James stole from her a lingering, forbidden, and unforgettable kiss. And now the lady wants the incorrigible rogue to stick strictly to business -- and is troubled that shemay not be able to resist him if he does not.
James, too, can never forget that wild, passionate moment in Kate's garden, and he's certain the rigors of a far-reaching adventure will be too much for her. But the fetching young widow surprises him with her bold determination and a courage that compliments her breathtaking sensuality. Might Lord James be competing for a more elusive, yet far more valuable, prize: the hand and heart of Kathryn Bright Goodale?

ARC Book Review--> When Hari Met His Saali by Harsh Warrdhan

 When Hari Met His Saali
Title and Author: When Hari Met His Saali by Harsh Warrdhan
Print Length: 237 Pages
Publisher and Publication Date: Harlequin India, May 2014
Language: English
Genre: Contemporary Romance, Romantic comedy, Chick-lit, Indian Writing

The only magical thing missing from her life... happened to her sister!
Her idea of romance comes from movies and magazines.
His idea of romance is that it is unnecessary.

Tia was in love with her career and her lifestyle in America. And she was madly in love with Hari. But where was the romance she craved?
Simi was the young girl left behind in a small town in India who hadn't seen her sister for years. She was a dreamer. But what did she really want out of life?
And then there was Hari. Straight-forward and uncomplicated, it felt like nothing he did was ever good enough for Tia. But didn't every man want an ambitious and successful wife no matter how demanding they were?
Theirs was a love story that was never going to be conventional. But what happened to Hari and Tia was something that nobody would have predicted.
Mix two sisters with bad history between them and one clueless man, to form one whacky triangle, and you get a cautionary lesson in how you should be careful of what you wish for in the name of love?
Set in Los Angeles and Nagpur, India, When Hari Met His Saali is a funny, fresh, and outrageous look at young people and their dreams, longings, aches and heartbreaks. It is a fascinating take on the grand idea of love and the reality of romance. In a breezy, humorous narrative anchored around a magical twist, the story of Tia, Simi and Hari unfolds from romantic comedy into a climax full of suspense.

My Review:

Tia Galhotra is ambitious, single minded, focused and determined to make a life for herself in the United States of America with the man of her dreams,Hari Malhotra, even if that means that she has to train and mould him according to her own ideas of perfection!
Hari Malhotra, much to the chagrin of Tia, is recklessly simple and unsophisticated. Born in an affluent Indian family in the United States of America, he thinks of himself as an American. Having dated Tia for six years, he feels it is natural that they are smoothly moving towards getting married. Although he doesn't like Tia's constant domineering and self important ways but he makes do, thinking that he is too fortunate to have a successful, beautiful and intelligent woman like Tia in his life.
Simi is a simple, naive and down-to-earth girl from Nagpur. After Tia left home to go to America, she has taken care of her widow mother and run her house like an adult; giving up her dreams of leaving Nagpur to make a career for herself.

Now Tia is getting engaged and Simi and her mother are invited.

What will you do if your fiance falls for your sister?

Are you resisting change? ~Tips to brave your insecurities and strive towards change to improve your life!

Are you resisting change?
Do you make excuses for not making an effort to change your life?
Do you complain more?
Do you feel dissatisfied with your life?
Despite the dreams of a better life; are you afraid to take the plunge?
Does thinking of change only bring negative feelings to your mind?
Have you convinced yourself to settle for less just to avoid change?

If all this is happening to you, then my friend it is time that you brave your insecurities and strive towards a change.

What is change?

Change is an act or process through which something becomes different.

Now this difference can be good or bad. Most people consider change as bad. Maybe because they have had negative experiences in the past whenever change has entered their lives. So now, when they think about change it brings only negative feelings for them rather than any positive ones. They are happy or have convinced themselves that they are happy in their small bubble of a constant and monotonous life with no windows to show them the life they can have if they only try for a change with time.

I read this phrase once and it has stuck with me ever since. People who resist Change let "Life Happen" to them, verses "Happen to Life"

So don't stop dreaming and adapting. Change is the law of life and if you don't grow with time, this feeling of denial will become the greatest regret that you ever have.

Here are a few lessons that life has taught me about embracing a change:

1) Set believable expectations from your life.

If you have too high expectations from your life and if they don't get fulfilled, you will be filled with a sense of negativity. But if you set believable/reasonable expectations and they get fulfilled you will be filled with positive thoughts and an inspiration to keep on changing with time. Having no or reasonable expectations helps us in understanding that trying for an end is possible from our side but always getting the desired result is not in our hands.

2) Follow the "Three A" principle.

So go accept your situations, adapt to the required changes in your life and only then will you achieve the life that you have always dreamed of!

3) Learn from your past experiences.

There is a learning hidden in every experience that we face. Learn from your mistakes and take steps to never repeat them in the future.

4) Acknowledge that you are growing stronger.

Accept that you are getting stronger with each experience and each change in your life. You are gaining wisdom to endure the future storms of difficulties that may strike you.

5) Embrace the fear.

Fear of change is common with everyone. We all fear change. We don't want to come out of our comfort zones and try something which has no sure-shot success guarantee. But once you embrace your fears and make a change only then will you get the life you always wanted because "Success lies beyond fear"Embrace your fears and make a change because "Your life does not get better by chance. It gets better by change"! :)

Book Review--> Embers of Light And The Sacred Secret (Part 1) by Abhi

Title and Author: Embers of Light and the Sacred Secret
Series: Embers of Light
Publication Date: Konark Publishers (February, 2014)
Language: English
Genre: Fantasy, Occult, Epic

My Review:
Five strangers are called to India from all over the world on different pretexts and told an incredible story about an age old civilization of the Vaashis, their journey to Earth and the present problem faced by them.

What starts out as an unbelievable story for these strangers then changes their lives forever!

Who are the Vaashis?
How are they related to these five people who are all from different parts of the world with absolutely no connection with each other?
How is the mysterious sightings of the Y symbol related to their sudden calling to India?
Can they believe this seemingly far-fetched tale of hidden aliens on Earth and a villain returned to take revenge from them?

I am not a great fan of fantasy novels but when Abhi told me about his debut novel, I was intrigued. Aliens, mysterious symbols, Harry Potter style magic and potions; and add to this the idea of Earthlings being the heroes was altogether too good for me to refuse reading the book.

Blogging 101--> How to fix the wrong image pickup on sharing a blog post on Facebook?

Often we see that when we share a blog post to Facebook it doesn't always pick up the right image. Ideally it should pick up the post thumbnail while sharing so that the post is easily identifiable. To ensure that the correct image is picked up we should first understand how Facebook picks an image.

How does Facebook pick an image from our blog?
Facebook regularly scrapes our post page and saves the data to our servers. They look for meta data information (Opengraph tags and others) in our post page. The meta data can explicitly specify the image and the description to use when the page is shared. If Facebook doesn't find any meta data then their Algorithms fetch some other image suiting their criteria of a minimum image size of 200 * 200 px from our Page. Facebook shows a wrong image when their Algorithms are not able to fetch the correct image from our Post Page.

Callie Kirkpatrick promised herself she’d never fall in love again.
After catching her boyfriend Ethan cheating on her, Callie decides to retire from the dating game at the ripe old age of twenty-four. Unfortunately for Callie, she’s going to have to see Ethan at her best friend’s upcoming wedding. Stranded in the airport during a weather delay on her way to the nuptials, Callie meets Nate Wright. He’s sexy and uncomplicated, and a one-night stand is just what the doctor ordered for a girl with a broken heart. Callie thinks she’ll never see Nate again —until he shows up at the wedding.

Nate is hell-bent on making Callie forget about her ex, and he makes her question whether she was ever really in love with Ethan at all. As she begins to fall for Nate, Callie wonders if promises were meant to be broken…

“So,” he says, rubbing the palms of his hands on his jeans. “Are you going to tell me your name?”
For a split second I consider making one up, but even though he’s a complete stranger, it feels wrong to want to lie to him.
“Callie. My name is Callie.”
“Short for…” He draws out the ‘r’ as he searches for a name to guess. “Calliope?” He seems really proud of himself for thinking of another name, and it’s disarmingly cute.
“Good guess,” I tell him. “It’s Callista. And your name is?”
“Short for…Michael?” It’s an idiotic thing to say, but he laughs anyway.
