Day 2 of #WhatTheBlack ~ #WhatTheBlack is going on?

Guess what I received today!
I received a .....wait for it......black newspaper! :)

#WhatTheBlack Times came and left me speechless yet again with only one question in my mind #WhatTheBlack is going on?

If I was surprised and left speechless yesterday, today the contest went on a whole new level when I received a black newspaper!

#WhatTheBlack Times made me think yet again that this was an indication of change. Maybe a change required in our thinking or in the society but definitely a change. Things that are normally white and we have taken them for granted as always being white like an egg or a newspaper have suddenly embraced the black color. Black, as we know, is the color symbolizing mystery. This is a mystery all right! :)

As I perused the newspaper which had some pretty interesting articles on hens laying black eggs, thus shocking the farmers; black star sightings baffling the astronomers; black tissue papers replacing the white ones; cricket embracing black balls which are believed to have more swing than their white counterparts and also the Indian cricket team sporting black on the Day 5 of the 5th Test which is yet to happen on August 19th!

Book Review
Shelby Nichols was a normal housewife, happy in her mundane life with two kids and a loving husband but everything changed the day she stopped to buy carrots and in turn got the gift of hearing people's thoughts! The journey that started in the first book in the series, Carrots, has taken Shelby a long way. She now has her own consulting agency, is stuck with helping the mob boss she calls as Uncle Joey and is also faced with the complications that hearing others' thoughts brings to her life!

In Deep In Death, Shelby has promised to take it easy and so she takes up a missing person case which she thinks will be safe as compared to her help sessions with Uncle Joey which have a tendency of getting her into trouble! But what she doesn't know is that this case will prove even more challenging and dangerous. As Shelby begins investigating, she is spooked by the mysterious scent of gardenias that only she can smell, the unsolved mysterious disappearances of several other women just like her victim and a murderer who has remained free and who will stop at nothing to keep her from finding the truth!
Will Shelby be able to find the missing woman or is this a case that will leave her "Deep In Death"?

Skyscanner and I on a trip around the world ~ Lovely London on my mind!

"I want to make memories all over the world." I had said to my parents once. A bookaholic, I was fascinated by all the places I had read about and often imagined what it would be like to visit these places some day! As I grew older, my list also grew and among that ever increasing list some places took precedence over the others, in terms of the order of visit.

I wish to go to all the places that I have read about, revisit their history, feel the thrill of learning something new and make lots of good memories. Among all the places that are on my bucket list, London is the place I want to start with.

It is the city with a historical significance and a city that holds a major place on the world map in the present scenario as well. It is the city where my favorite Detective character, Sherlock Holmes lived at 221B Baker Street, where Harry Potter lived and it is the place which bore witness to the rise of the British rule with subsequent conquest of almost half the world under the banner of the East India Company. A city that is a mixture of great architecture, a strong financial capital, an education hub, a witness to some great eras like the Victorian and the Regency era with some very memorable fashion trends and society trends and a city that is rich in history, London has always attracted me towards it.

So when I got a chance to write about this dream of mine and plan a trip to this magnificent city, I was overjoyed.

While it is easy to dream of visiting a place, it is a complete nightmare to plan a trip. There are just so many things to consider like fixing a budget, booking flights and hotels, arranging local transportation and deciding the itinerary! Add to this my wish of finding the most economic deal, the complete planning phase is a headache. But wait! Skyscanner can help here. The most difficult part of visiting dozens of websites to find the most cost effective deal is easily handled through Skyscanner. We just have to add the dates of travel and the destination and it will give the most cost effective flights, hotels and car/bus bookings available! Easy, isn't it?

So I was more than happy to take the help of Skyscanner to plan my trip to this alluring city.

Book Review--> Hard Ride to Dry Gulch (Big "D" Dads: The Daltons #3) by Joanna Wayne

Title and Author: Hard Ride to Dry Gulch by Joanna Wayne
Series: Big "D" Dads: The Daltons #3
Print Length: 220 Pages
Publication Date: Mills & Boon Intrigue (July 1, 2014)
Language: English
Genre: Romantic Suspense, Mystery, Thriller, Series

Book Review:
Faith Ashburn is troubled and the only thing that has been driving her for the last ten months is the search for her missing son, Cornell. Cornell Ashburn is a good kid and Faith thought she knew him until the day he disappeared suddenly without a trace.
Now Faith is desperate to do anything to find him and when the Houston Homicide Detective and the brother-in-law of her best friend, Joni, Travis Dalton offers his help, she agrees.
Is Cornell still alive?
How did he disappear? Is he being held captive or just decided to move out, away from his mother, as the cops think?
As Faith and Travis embark on the almost cold trail to find Cornell, there is danger at every step and mysteries that have the power to break Faith's heart. Add all this to the unexplained attraction between them, everything hangs on finding Cornell!

"But if something happened to Cornell, would she ever be able to love anyone again?"

The cover is cute and I was intrigued by the blurb. It is catchy and attracts the attention of the reader.

Joanna Wayne is a bestselling author and just like her previous books, she impressed me in this book too. She captures the agony of a mother who has lost her only son so beautifully that you cant help but be totally invested in her grief. She keeps up the mystery of the disappearance and the thrill of the chase till the end. The plot is admirably conceived and executed. I loved her no-frills writing style. She writes simply and engagingly. The book mainly deals with the search of Cornell but still Joanna beautifully develops Faith and Travis' relationship and also add on the Dalton base story which is carried forward in this book.

Then there is all that chocolate! Sam's real goal in life is to use her elegant baking skills to open her own pastry shop, Sweet's Sweets. She's gaining quite the reputation as a baker with a magical touch, but a few obstacles stand in her way. #WhatTheBlack--> My Not-So-Secret Black Desires!

Louise Nevelson said, "I fell in love with black;
it contained all color.
It wasn't a negation of color...
Black is the most aristocratic color of all...
You can be quiet, and it contains the whole thing."
and I agree completely with her statement. Black is the color that can make a person look privileged, suave, sophisticated and also very slim (Ain't I thankful for that!). When I heard of this contest #WhatTheBlack where we had to talk about the five black things we wish for and why, I jumped at the idea. What better way than this to let friends and family know what I want from them as gifts! Hey! Are you all reading this? Pay attention, I will be giving you the list soon! :)

First I should talk about my love for black. You see, I fell in love with black all because of my mother. She had such gloriously glossy, long black hair that shone, felt like silk and could be made into any style. I just loved playing with them and often watched my mother style them in different ways. They looked so beautiful and made my mother look all the more stunning that I felt I had to have them! This marked the start of my love for black and I have never stopped loving this color ever since!

Counting the top five things I want in black is so difficult but after much consideration, I think I have made up my mind. Although if you ask for more then I wont mind. :)

1) I seriously covet having long, luxurious coal black hair just like my mother's. Although I have the volume but my hair don't stand anywhere near her glossy, black mane. So having a similar if not the same healthy, shiny black hair that sway while moving and look and feel just as shiny and soft like silk is at the top of my list!

Don't get any teasing ideas like getting me a wig or something. That would be so not funny. I remember what you did last summer. {wink wink}
I am just telling you this so you can pray to God so he grants me my wish of having beautiful long, black hair!

2) The next thing that I wish for is a sleek black iPad. Now having a black iPad will make me happy because first, it's an Apple product. I haven't used any Apple product because they are just too expensive but I have heard so much about it. Then it has such great features, is a smooth experience, is bug proof, is sleek and beautiful and totally suave. It also will solve my reading-on-my-phone problem which is giving me a weak eyesight. I can read books easily on the iPad which has a bigger screen as compared to my black Samsung Galaxy S2, has better resolution and a better battery life. It is also light weight so reading on it is not a problem. Last but not the least, it will give a complete experience of using an apple product except calling which is no big deal as I am not big on calling people.

3) I also wish for a black gown or a dress just like those worn by actresses on TV. I also recently saw a dress on Google and loved it so much. In black these dresses look deadly exquisite, sophisticated and also make the wearer look so slim! It would be so exciting to wear these dresses. I can just imagine myself swaying to the music dressed in these killer outfits! {sigh}
