Blurb/Synopsis:

Love is deceptive...

Fiery Billie Black thought she knew all she needed to know about her own sexuality, but that was before one night of animalistic passion with the ultra gorgeous and mysterious Jaron Rose. Tall, blond, charming and wealthy, he was the epitome of an Alpha male.

In the morning he promised he would call.  He didn't.

Six months later, just as Billie had finally managed to free herself from the memories of that night, he arrives on the scene again. Suddenly, all the feelings that burned so intensely are reignited and she finds herself becoming quickly entangled with her enigmatic lover. The passion is incredible, unforgettable, unbelievable, but Jaron Rose is not all that he seems—he wears more than one disguise…and he is hiding a big secret.

Billie is about to find out what that is…

Book Review

Masquerade is the first book by Georgia Le Carre that I have read and wow what a book it is!
The cover is intriguing and the blurb grabs your attention.

I haven't read many Adult romances and when I heard about this book I was a bit apprehensive wondering if I would like it but instead I was so hooked in the story that I just could not keep it down. :)

Although it says that it is the standalone sequel to the Billionaire Banker series, I came to know about this fact only after I had read Masquerade and let me tell you I didn't feel anything amiss. This novel is a standalone and no way did I feel the need to have read the Billionaire Banker series first before reading this one .

This is one story that does not let the heated intimate scenes waylay the main story. Instead the story takes you on a journey of self discovery, hidden secrets, intense emotions and finally a totally unexpected twist that floors you. I just didn't see this twist coming.

Jaron is mysterious with great sex appeal that he knows how to use to his advantage. The bad boy streak in him and the reckless facade that he portrays makes every woman's heart pitter- patter. His chemistry with Billie is scorching, intense and animalistic. The mystery around him when it gets solved leaves the reader astonished and appreciative of the creativity of the writer. I haven't read any stories with this twist.

Billie thinks herself as a lesbian and so when she is attracted towards Jaron, she is very confused about her sexuality. A one night stand leaves her pining for a man who never calls and then after many months waltzes into her life as if he owns it. Infuriated with Jaron but at the same time slave to her frustrated libido, the game they play is both erotic and a defining part of the story.

Billie's best friend and the main heroine of the Billionaire Banker series, Lana also makes an appearance in this novel along with her husband, Blake and it was interesting and heart warming to see her support to Billie and their love as friends.

The other characters also make their presence felt and sketch a lively picture in our minds.

The best thing about the book was the fluid shift from intimate scenes to the main story. The scenes change almost flawlessly and take you from feeling the intensity of love to the thrill of mystery and danger in a heartbeat and you don't even feel the shift.

The story is well crafted and executed. This is an erotic romance but with a solid story line and some well thrown suspense and adventure.

All in all, I absolutely enjoyed reading Masquerade and liked Georgia's writing style. 4.5 out of 5 to it and recommended to adults who love intense love stories with heated love scenes. I look forward to reading the Billionaire Banker series now and would definitely checkout any new books from Georgia in the future.

I received an ARC from the author and I am very thankful to her. The above review is my honest and unbiased opinion and in no way influenced.

ARC Book Review: Siren's Treasure (Dark Seas #2) by Debbie Herbert

#ARCBookReview: Siren's Treasure by Debbie Herbert Title and Author: Siren's Treasure by Debbie Herbert
No. of Pages: 304 Pages
Series: Dark Seas #2
Publication Date: Mills & Boon Nocturne (November 1, 2014)
Language: English
Genre: Romance, Paranormal, Mermaids, Nocturne, Suspense

Book Review:

Jet Bosarge has always felt different. Never able to mix with either the mermaids or the humans, she has felt lonely and lost. Years ago, sick with the loneliness, she had made the mistake of loving a human named Perry and had shared all her secrets with him but had been devastated when he had betrayed her. Now he is back and as usual up to no good. Add to this mix, the new in town IRS agent with piercing glacial eyes, Landry Fields, Jet's life is about to be turned upside down.

Can Jet face Perry again?

Why is she so different from the other mermaids including her sister Lily who is a siren with an enchanting voice?
Why does Landry Fields make Jet dizzy with attraction like no other man has ever before?

Siren's Treasure by Debbie Herbert which releases on 1st November 2014 is the story of Jet Bosarge. We had first met her in Shelly's story in Siren's Secret and I loved her spunk and dont care attitude. Jet is strong, independent and gutsy. She likes collecting lost treasures from long ago and this dangerous hobby made her acquainted with Perry.

The cover is intriguing and suited to the Nocturne theme of the book. The blurb attracts you to go dive deep into the mysterious world of the mermaids. I had already dived once and loved the story of Shelly who is a cousin of Jet in the book, Siren's Secret and so when I came to know that Debbie had written Jet's story, I jumped at the chance to read and review it. :)

If you read and am sure loved Siren's Secret then you will love Siren's Treasure even more. The story is more crisp, more centered and characters more complex. There are several layers to the story and Debbie brings out the emotional struggle of Jet expertly. Jet Bosarge is a mermaid but still feels that she is truly not a part of merfolk. So different from the fragile beauty with blonde wavy hair of the other mermaids, she is dark haired, exceptionally strong and devoid of any fragile charm. Unlike her sister Lily, she isnt blessed with a siren's voice and never flocked by merman. Ignored by men of her world and burned in the past by a human, she is vulnerable and lonely but sports a brave, strong, spunky and dont-give-a-damn attitude outside.

I loved Landry. He is strong, handsome and very dedicated to his job. Afflicted with a troubled past. He was a bit mysterious and the whole supernatural element in his story was intriguing. The chemistry between Landry and Jet is intense. There is instant attraction between them and their feelings are so beautifully developed. I was so caught in the story that time just flew and before I knew it I had finished the whole book! :)

Shelly and Tillman also make an appearance in this book and it was so exciting to see them so happy after all the drama in the first book, Siren's Secret. Lilly and the complete Bosarge clan are a happy bunch and it was so enchanting to read about them and visualize their secretive under water world. They have lived in the Bayou area of Alabama and kept themselves hidden but when their secret and one of their own is threatened, they stand united to eliminate the threat. The author's talent in bringing out two sides to everyone made me sympathize with Perry too. He was once a good man but them went evil. It was interesting to see the comparison between his good and bad side.

Debbie's writing is simple and well balanced. She injects humor, emotions, heat and suspense in her story and keeps the reader turning pages with interest till the very end. You cannot help but visualize the merworld and feel the magic and mystery of it all.

Although this book is well plotted and held my interest but still I did feel the supernatural angle was incomplete. There was no proper closure to it. Why did something happen years ago and who was responsible? I wanted to know answers to all these questions and more.

Overall, I simply loved and enjoyed meeting Jet again and reading her own story. I give Siren's Treasure 4.5 out of 5. Strongly recommended to you all, go read and feel the magic of mermaids. Maybe I will meet one someday. :)

#ARCBookReview: The Cure was Love by Reet Singh

Book Review: The Cure was Love by Reet Singh
Title and Author: The Cure was Love by Reet Singh
No. of Pages: 192 Pages
Publication Date: Mills & Boon Indian Author Collection (November 1, 2014)
Language: English
Genre: Contemporary Romance, Indian Author

Blurb:
Will the young doctors realize what ails them?
For three months, Simi Gill gets to do what she loves – train at an overseas student program and learn more about medicine. As a bonus, she gets to forget about the shallow boyfriend who dumped her, and worse, who hurt her. Living it up in New York, far from her home in India, she is saved by the delicious Rudy Bhatnagar, not once, but two times in one night!
A talented surgeon with a heart of gold, Rudy can't stop himself from thinking about Simi Gill. He tries very hard – having had his heart broken before, he's not sure he can risk it again. But Fate has other plans.
Thrown together by bizarre circumstances, they survive bullets and babysitting with aplomb. Will they realize they're perfect for each other or will they let precious love slip through their fingers?

Book Review:
The Cure was Love is Reet Singh's upcoming romance which will release on 1st November. I had read and loved Reet's first romance Scorched by his Fire previously and so when Reet told me about her next book I was ecstatic.

A deliciously beautiful cover, the title and blurb also captured my interest in the book and made me pick this book up even when I was on a vacation and had promised my husband my cent percent time. :)

As soon as I started on the book I knew it was going to be awesome. The starting scene itself is so admirably laid out that you are left speculating, laughing and thoroughly enjoying the chemistry between Simi and Rudy. Reet made me remember the award winning McGregor series by Nora Roberts. The Cure was Love has that same lovely effect on you. The urgency that it creates in the readers to see their beloved protagonists get their happily-ever-after and the goofy smile it leaves behind is such a welcome experience.

The story is beautifully sketched and brought to life. The characters developed such that they make a lasting place in your heart. I absolutely loved Rudy with his unconscious handsomeness, his heart of gold and a stubborn streak that endeared him to me. He is so blissfully unaware of the dizzying effect he has on women which is so novel and made him a hero I will always cherish.

Simi is refreshingly naive but very headstrong. Although dealt some crushing blows in life, she seeks happiness in the small things in life and made a perfect partner to the serious and somewhat worldly Rudy. I thoroughly enjoyed the banter between them and could be seen giggling, laughing out loud and smiling so much that I had my husband's interest also captured in the book which is a great deed considering that he is more of a movie buff than a book enthusiast.

Rudy's family is boisterous and a happy bunch. It warmed my heart to see that they had transcended all religious and geographical barriers to make bonds of love. Simi's father is a strict but a very caring father and made me feel as if I knew him already. These are people we have met or heard about from people we know. Normal people who have braved the scorch of hardships to bask in the warmth of love, I would love to read their individual stories and hope that Reet will write about them soon.

The settings, the situations and the emotions, everything is perfectly balanced and brilliantly brought out by the author. If you loved Reet's first book, Scorched by his Fire then you will doubly love this new book from her. Reet has matured as a writer which shows in her upcoming book. A very talented writer, she has now made her way in the list of authors I follow.

A well written book that charms you and leaves you completely engrossed in the romance, I give The Cure was Love 5 super shiny stars and strongly recommend this book to you all. Don't miss reading this super entertaining story which you wont be able to keep down until the very end! :)

I received an ARC from the author and I am very thankful to her. The above review is my honest and unbiased opinion and in no way influenced.

#ProductReview: MatrikaS Paper Products

Dear Diary,

I met three new friends today and what can I say, I fell in love with them! I know when you hear about them you will also love them. They are all so beautiful!

My three new friends- Products sent for review by MatrikaS
One is an Antique Journal with a leather feel in the cover, crisp high quality pages which look golden when the journal is closed and such a classy overall feel to it. It looks just like those old leather bound classics in the library that are precious and very rarely loaned. What's more is that I was stumped by the price. It is so economically priced at just 360 Rupees. I know this will be a fitting successor to you. :)

Classy Journal from MatrikaS

Golden feel of the Journal

Next is a Cube Works notebook with adoring and amazing doodles.Spiral bound with waterproof covers, this is a welcome new friend who will keep me company when I feel the urge to write the various story ideas that swamp my mind at the most unexpected times. For a klutz like me who is always ruining the notebooks that either have torn covers or wet ones from trying to save them during the monsoons, this one will be protected from tear as well as wetness because of its sturdy waterproof cover. The pages are smooth, crisp and chalk white with that special smell that comes from new pages. As if this is not enough, the notebook is pink! You know, how I love this colour. It is so girly and so suited to my personality. If you are still not convinced about my choice then you should know that it is so well priced at just 110 Rupees. :)

Pink Cube Works Notebook

Last but not the least is the special journal with my favorite personality on its cover, Mother Teresa. Exquisitely embossed on the cover, Mother Teresa's smiling face made my day when I opened the package containing the journal. The journal is thoughtfully divided into four parts:
1) Important Notes
2) Your Action Plan
3) Organize Your Schedule
4) Optimize Your Lists

Mother Teresa Journal sent by MatrikaS
It is perfect to schedule your year plans, make lists and have fun organizing, optimizing and seeing if your lists came true. I loved the biography of Mother Teresa at the beginning and inspirational quotes by her written at the bottom of the pages and felt so special holding this very unique journal in my hand. I know none of my friends have such a special journal in their lives. It would be interesting to showoff to them and wait till I tell them the price which is sure to leave their mouths hanging open. It's priced at just 215 Rupees. :)

Mother Teresa Journal Full cover
I know Dad will also love these new friends of mine. After all, he is the one who always gifts me diaries for New Year. I can almost see the twinkle and excitement in his eyes when he sees these babies. LOL

Now that I have such pleasing companions and am feeling so motivated, I know I would have all the inspiration coming to me and surely I will finish my pending novel this year. :)

Thank you for listening to me. You are such a great friend.

Bye Diary and wish me luck! :)

My heart baring session with my Diary has left me feeling so inspired. Thanks to MatrikaS who sent me such beautiful journals and notebook. These are great gifts suited to any occasion and what with Diwali just round the corner, I know I have found a new favorite and would be buying some more Diaries and Journals for my friends and family soon, after I have showed off my beauties to everyone. :)

Do go checkout MatrikaS who were so kind as to introduce me to such innovative stationary. There is an extensive range by the brand and you can check them all by visiting their Website or following their Facebook Page.

Book Review:
The Advent Bride attracted me at first because of its cover which is so Christmasy and then because of the blurb which instantly hooked me. :)

Book Review--> Business Doctors- Management Consulting Gone Wild by Sameer Kamat

Title and Author: Business Doctors - Management Consulting Gone Wild by Sameer Kamat
No. of Pages: 240Pages
Publication Date: April 2014
Language: English
Genre: Business, Strategy and Management, Action, Adventure, Indian writing

Book Review:
Michael Schneider is Ivy League educated management consultant but he is struggling. In comes Woody, a mafia boss who is on the verge of losing his family business. As Michael takes up the job to revive Woody's business that spans drugs, gambling and other unsavory activities, it is a challenge that will test Michael and prove to Woody if he is indeed the Business Doctor!

First of all, I loved the cover of the book and was instantly attracted towards it. Next the concept is so novel. I have never read a book on management consulting so when Sameer contacted me to review this book I was intrigued. The blurb is catchy and makes the reader want to checkout the book.

Sameer's writing style is crisp, witty and very balanced. He injects humor with ease and it was very funny to read about Michael. The book is fast paced and the twists although predictable to me still kept up my interest.

The characterization is admirably done but I would have loved to see more depth in them. Sometimes they feel only partly developed. Michael is brilliant, Woody is moody and Woody's wife, Angie is the spicy ingredient in the book. :)

Book Review---> Time of Death #1- Time of Death: Induction by Shana Festa

Title and Author: Time of Death: Induction by Shana Festa
Series: Time of Death #1
No. of Pages: 198 Pages
Publication Date: May 2014
Language: English
Genre: Post-Apocalyptic, Horror, Zombie, Science Fiction

Book Review:

Emma Rossi is a nurse in training and happily married to the love of her life. Funny, witty and strong, she braves facing cantankerous old nurses, difficult patients and many other challenges each day but no challenge is as horrifying as the outbreak of a deadly virus that suddenly leaves hungry zombies everywhere. With only a handful of survivors, Emma is faced with a challenge that will test her character and her morals as she tries to protect her family and herself from the living dead!

"When no one or nowhere is safe, where do you go to escape the monsters?" said the blurb and I was hooked. Really where will I go if something like this happened? I kept asking myself while reading this book. The cover is attractive and intrigued me. The blurb is catchy and will interest you enough to thumb through the pages.

While I am very scared of zombies and usually do not try watching movies with zombies in it but when Shana told me about her book and I read the blurb I was so intrigued as to want to challenge myself with it and thus, started my adventure with a zombie novel that became my first read in this genre. :)

Even if I started out with the book fearing my reaction to it, I was soon so engrossed in the story that I lost track of time. A very realistically brought to life story where the world is afflicted with a virus so deadly that they have no cure for it and where zombies are running wild, I was thrilled as well as chilled while reading the story.

Excerpt #1
He smiles at me, and I swear, I’m blown away.
Shit, shit, shit.
I’m in trouble.
Especially since I’m about to blatantly invite the trouble into my life.
“You know what,” I say suddenly, standing up. “I want a chocolate chip muffin. I’ll be right back.”
Ethan nods, not really hearing me, focused on whatever it is he’s gazing at out the window and I head to the counter to order. There is one person in front of me so I have to wait, and because people are predictable, it’s only a moment or two before I feel the man stand behind me. I don’t even have to look to know.
“I’m Benedict,” he murmurs, leaning in close to my ear so his breath brushes me in an intimate manner. His deep voice is sexy just as I imagined it would be from simply looking at him.
I ignore the way it makes me feel and am direct as possible so he knows everything he needs to. “I’m taken.”
“Are you?” He chuckles, still close to me even though he isn’t touching me in any way. “So am I. Now, what’s your name?”
Interesting. Well, he gets points for being honest, and I’ve no idea what his situation is, so I give him an honest answer. “I’m Caroline.”
“Is that your boyfriend sitting with you?”
“No.”

Under My Skin by Alix Nichols

~About the Book~
Title: Under My Skin (Bistro La Boheme #2)
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: October 11

Blurb:
UNDER MY SKIN is the second novel in the addictive BISTRO LA BOHEME series. This delightful Parisian version of "Four Weddings and a Funeral" will entertain you with a gripping story, endearing characters and sizzling romance.

A tall well-dressed guy entered the bistro, dripping rain and hotness. He stopped by the door and surveyed the room searching for someone, his gaze lingering on the females...until it met Jeanne's. He beamed and walked toward her, his eyes trained on her and full of warmth. Did he know her? Was she supposed to know him?

Feisty bartender Jeanne and geek-turned-hottie Mat embark on an emotional and sensual roller coaster, as their paths cross at an engagement party, a baptism and a wedding... not counting all the other times they "accidentally" run into each other.

And miserably fail to behave with propriety.

But Mat is an ambitious politician running for mayor of his hometown and going steady with an exquisite woman. He knows exactly where he wants to be five years from now.

Falling for Jeanne all over again is definitely NOT part of his plan.

~My Review~
Under My Skin is the third book by Alix Nichols that I read. The love story of Mat and Jeanne whom we met in the first book in the series, What If It's Love?, I was very eager to start on the book.

The cover is likable and the blurb interesting. After reading the blurb I got an impression that this would be a teasing and a scandalous read but instead the book is almost quiet, flows slowly and the love story develops over a time span of almost a year.

The characterization is good. I loved the transformation in Mat from a nerd to a hunk and was amazed at the transformation in Jeanne. She was more feisty in the first book but has grown more mature in this one. The other characters are not given more scope. I would have loved to read more about Rob and Lena's wedding and it would have been great if Mat and Jeanne had more adventures during this time. Mat's other lady interest is also not developed fully and I could not connect with her.

The plot idea is good and the author tries to answer the question of - whether it is love or just lust. Why are we attracted towards some people? Is it their appearance that drives us? How do we know that we love someone and are not just driven by lust? Mat had once been a nerd and Jeanne never noticed him then but now that he is a hunk she is attracted towards him. The idea is good and could have been developed better but for now it left me a bit confused. The question is not answered and I was confused by Mat and Jeanne's actions in the book. However, when the end came, I forgot all my confusion and was left with a silly, goofy smile on my face. I would definitely like to read more about these adorable characters in the future.

The intensity of emotions between Mat and Jeanne are touching and made me root for a happily-ever-after for them. The author also takes up some social issues like domestic abuse, lack of education leading to crime etc. So much is happening in the protagonists' lives and it was all very satisfying.

The descriptions of Paris, Copenhagen and Normandy are beautifully sketched and I could visualize the quaint houses, the various types of cheese and the countryside along with their various tourist spots.

Alix's writing style is simple yet captivating. A very talented writer, I have loved her previous books and felt she didnt shine out like usual in this book.

All in all, this is a light, romantic read that will entertain with exotic locations and likable characters. 3.5 out of 5 to Under My Skin. This could have been a 5 on 5 book, had the author indulged deeper into the story and given a solid conclusion to the question she raised in the book. I look forward to reading more from Alix in the future and recommend the Bistro La Boheme series to all lovers of romance.

I received an ARC from the author and I am very thankful to her. The above review is my honest and unbiased opinion and in no way influenced.

~Meet the Author~
I am an avid reader of chick lit, romance and fantasy, caffeine addict and a badge-wearing Mr. Darcy/Colin Firth fan.

I released my first book at the age of six. It had six postcard-size pages stitched together and bound in velvet paper. The book was titled "Eliza and Robert" and had atrocious mistakes in every single word. Some words were written in mirror image. Unintentionally. I remember being immensely proud of my creation.

Turns out there's a remarkable constancy to my life: decades later, I still love the name Robert and the genre romance. As for my spelling and grammar, they are only marginally better than at age six (thank God for editors!).

I live and work in Paris, France. When not writing, I read romance (what else?) and spend time with my family.
