Upgrade your car with #QuikrNXT

I own a Honda City petrol variant and while I love my car, my changed needs require that I change my car to a diesel one. You see, I commute to about 100 kms per day and with the rising prices of petrol, the cost of travelling has put a deep dent on my pocket. To reduce the cost of travelling, I decided to exchange my Honda City with a smaller diesel car. I also didnt want to compromise on my comfort so I thought of giving Maruti Suzuki Swift and Hyundai i20 preference over the other cars.

Happy with my decision, I went to a nearby car dealer who had been suggested to me by my neighbour. I told him about my car which is a 2007 model in pristine condition. Expecting atleast 3,00000, I was shocked when he quoted 2,00000 for it. I told him that my car had been kept maintained, had no dents and looked almost new but he didnt budge from his quotation. Frustrated and a bit let down, I came back home. I could not give away my beloved car for such a puny amount.

I decided on taking the help of the internet and then thought about Quikr NXT. How could I have forgotten about it? I had absolutely loved the Quikr website which had previously helped me in shopping for a mobile upgrade (Read about it here). Then Quikr came out with Quikr NXT  which makes the shopping experience on Quikr even more sweeter with its simple and very helpful chat option which keeps our mobile numbers private and helps us chat with the buyer and seller without giving away our information and at our convenience. I talked about Quikr NXT in a previous post and as you remember had loved it (Read about it here).

Eager and with a new hope, I quickly typed the url for Quikr:  http://www.quikr.com/ and was taken to the website where I easily posted an ad for my Honda City for free, quoted my price with a picture of the car and also gave a brief summary of the car. I was happy and sure I would get a good deal on it.

Now I wanted an upgrade. I was ready to take a second hand car but wanted the following features in my new car like a diesel variant, a trusted car company, budget price, a known car model etc. and was surprised to see that I had options to trim my search by selecting the right filters.

I selected the below filters to refine my search:
1) Brand Name: Maruti Suzuki
2) Model: Swift
3) Price Range: 2,00000-5,00000
4) Year: 2009
5) Fuel Type: Diesel

I had other options like Location, Ads posted by etc. also available to further trim my search if I wanted to.

After selecting my filters, I was happy to see several great ad listings flood the screen and after searching a few of the options available I got the car I liked. The best thing about Quikr NXT is that there is a "Chat Now" option available in green right beside the ad.

As soon as I clicked on the "Chat Now" option a chat window opened where I could type my question for the seller. It is just like normal chat where we can ask our doubts to the seller and only buy stuff when we are satisfied. The best part is that we can ask for more real time pictures of the product. I chatted with the seller, had all my doubts cleared and then also looked at more pictures of the car from all angles which he had sent me through chat. Cool, isn't it! :)

I loved the fact that all my personal information is still private and I am now more secure from getting any unwanted calls from fake people and from the danger of having my mobile number fall into the wrong hands. I can chat with the seller at my convenience without having to think if it is the right time to call or rush from some important work to take the call. I don't have to make even a single call and even better the chat is available on desktop, mobile and via the Quikr app. It's also free!

I am safe now, more assured of getting a genuine and a great deal and a more fulfilling experience. All thanks to Quikr NXT.

I am still in talks with the seller but am sure I will have my new car with me soon. Add the amazing offers I am getting for my Honda City from Quikr NXT, I am on cloud nine. :)

Have you tried getting a better car from Quikr NXT?
If no, then go try it. You will see the difference yourself and be thanking Quikr NXT in no time!

Excerpt:

Startled by the lack of movement, Kendíka sat up in bed, scanning the shadows in the moonlit room. Perspiration beaded her forehead while her heart pounded against her ribs. The last thing she remembered was sitting in the limousine next to Mr. Vetrano, arguing about her future. He insisted the will mandated her future, not him. Did the pill knock her out? How dare he drug me!
She blinked and, holding her breath, glanced around the unfamiliar room. When her lungs screamed for air, she exhaled then took another deep inhale. What the hell? What happened to the limousine?
Butterflies unsettled her stomach. Her back stiffened. Her heart drummed. Oh, my God! When did I get out of the car or come to this room? Why would Mr. Vetrano bring me to such a freaky place? Fear and the thought of her parents’ death brought fresh tears to her eyes.
She slid out of bed and shuffled her bare feet along the stone floor, hands held out to make sure she didn’t bump into anything hidden by the shadows.
At the opposite end of the room, she could make out a dark blob, which she hoped might be the door. Somewhere along the wall near it, she would find a light switch. She advanced slowly, making sure not to stub her toes. Her fingertips ran along the smooth wood. The handle felt cold. She pulled on the knob, but it didn’t budge. Strange! Her heart missed a beat. Why is the door locked?
With all her strength, she pounded on the door. “Mr. Vetrano?” She paused. “Is anyone out there?” She beat her fists on it a few more times, but when no one came to investigate the commotion, she slid to the floor and buried her face in her hands. Think, girl, think. Standing again, she moved her hands along the smooth walls at the edge of the molding, feeling for a light switch. Why can’t I find it? She tried again…nothing but wall. Why is no one coming?

Fun Facts:

- One of the more challenging items I researched was how to address people. I had been under the impression that I could refer to a duke as ‘My Lord.’ Boy was I wrong! To do so is quite degrading. A duke is addressed as ‘Your Grace’, and he’s introduced as, for example, ‘Charles Emory, the Duke of Deverow.’ Yes, he is one of the leading characters in my book.
- What about the funny little hat maids wore that looked like a shower cap? Well, that’s called a mob hat, and no, it has nothing to do with mobsters and gangsters. It was an essential part of a maid’s uniform.
- Speaking of servants, I had to understand what a footman does versus a butler. A footman did a variety of indoor and outdoor jobs. Important to me were the indoor jobs. Learning that a footman laid out the table, served the meal and tea, and assisted the butler helped me determine what Wordsworth’s duties had to be in the book.
- During this research, I learned that the butler was responsible for household security and most important, the wine cellar. The butler didn’t wear a uniform, but he wore a black cravat instead of a white one so he would not be mistaken for a gentleman.

----------------------------------------------------------------
Here is the cool Interview I had with Annamaria Bazzi. Enjoy! :)

Q1. Tell us something about yourself?

Born in the cold of Michigan, but at the age of five my family relocated for a good six years to Sciacca, Sicily. Returning to the states was hard especially since I didn’t speak English though I still managed to get great grades and attended Wayne State University upon graduating from high school. As a July Leo I love heat, so summer is my favorite time of year.
Q2. So, what have you written?
Published I only have two novels, Incantation paradox, an urban fantasy, and White Swans A Regency World. I also have two short stories, Revelation of Abaddon, an urban fantasy, and A Simple Matter of Justice, a paranormal. At the moment I’m working on the edits of Dragons in the Resistance I hope to publish in the summer. I also have a Christmas novella almost ready that will be sold in a romance box set with other authors in September.
Q3. What genre are your books? What draws you to this genre?
I primarily write fantasy mixed in with science fiction and a pinch of romance for young adults. Magic and theoretical physics have always fascinated me hence I include them in my stories. In the real world almost everyone experiences romance at least once in their lifetime, hence the pinch of romance to make the stories more realistic.
Q4. What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?

Not sure I really have one. I enjoy starting with a hero that is a bit weak to show her growth, but have had to change to a strong hero from the beginning because people don’t seem to like a hero that is closer to reality. I suppose readers want to see a character that mimics who they would like to be—strong.

Q5. What do you hope people take away with them after reading your work?

I would like them to feel that justice, good ethics, and morals should always prevail and should be followed no matter who you are.

Q6. As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? What inspired you to become a writer?

As a child, I always dreamed of being an author one day. After a twenty-year career in the information system, I decided to open an in-home daycare and write in the evenings.

Q7. Had you not become a writer, which career would you have chosen and why?

After twenty years in computers I needed a change and if I had not wanted to become a writer I would have tried to open my own little shop selling painted quilted pillows and blankets. Time ago I learned to quilt, and since I love to paint on canvas decided to purchase white muslin to use as my canvas and then quilt pillows or baby blankest around them.
Q8. What are your ambitions for your writing career?
Every author wants to be recognized world wide, but the changes of that happening to most is quite small, so I settle for a good number of followers who enjoy reading my stories. As a writer, I want to bring not only enjoyment but also some awareness of what I think needs to change in the world. If in the process I do inspire people to change for the better, I’ll consider myself fully accomplished.
Q9. What made you decide to sit down and actually start something?
To be honest, I don’t remember since I started writing little stories down when I was about eight years old.
Q10. Do you write full-time or part-time? Where and when do you prefer to do your writing?
I write part time and hope for the day I can do it full time. When I sit down to write I do it in a corner of my kitchen table, in the middle of all family activities. No, it doesn’t distract me, it just makes me feel part of all that’s going on.
Q11. Where do your ideas come from?
Most of my ideas come from problems in the real world and my desire to fix them in a way that makes sense to me.
Q12. Do you ever get writer’s Block? Any tips on how to get through the dreaded writer’s block?
Because I work on multiple projects at a time, I don’t really experience writer’s block. If by chance I’m not inspired to work on a particular novel that day, I turn to a different one. I also blog and there’s always a certain amount of research that needs to be done. I’m never just sitting twirling my thumbs.
Q13. What steps do you take to get your books published? (From draft to finding a publisher to finally publishing)
First I need to get the book written. Next it goes to a few beta readers. When it comes back with comments, I write my second draft. Then I put the book away to distance myself from it before I tackle a third draft. Once the third draft is done I go over it again to make sure I stay in the characters deep point of view. At about draft number seven or eight, I send the manuscript to my editor to start working with her on what she thinks will improve the story and getting rid of repeated words and other grammatical and punctuation problems. In the mean time I talk with my cover designer to bring about my vision of the cover.
After the line editor is done with the manuscript everything goes back to the editor for formatting. Once that’s done it comes back to me to make sure no grammatical errors were overlooked.
Publishing an eBook is quite easy and with createspace paperbacks can also be ordered.
As a self-published author I’m involved in every aspect of the publication of my books.
Q14. How do you market your books and why did you choose this route?
I have great problems marketing my books…I just haven’t learned what works for my books. Why self-publish? Because I’m involved with every aspect of the writing, the creation of the cover design and when the books are released. Everything depends on me not a publishing house. I guess it all boils down to control of my own works.
Q15. Do you have any advice for other authors on how to market their books?
I don’t really have any to give considering I’m in need of help with this task.
Q16. What are your future plans?

Since writing is something I enjoy so much, I’m going to continue to write young adult novels and also some romance.

Book Review--> How To Survive Your Sisters by Ellie Campbell

Title and Author: How To Survive Your Sisters by Ellie Campbell
No. of Pages: 449
Publication Date: December 2, 2013
Genre: Romantic Comedy, Chicklit, Indie
Language: English

Book Review:
How To Survive Your Sisters is a humourous story of four sisters with ample rivalry, jealousy, episodes of love and their own romances thrown in to make this book a perfect spicy read for a lazy afternoon.

I loved the cover which shows a bride with an irritated look and instantly attracts your attention making your eager to know why she is irritated and angry. Then the blurb is an added bonus which interested me further to request the authors for a copy to read and review which they were kind enough to provide. Thank you so much Ellie. :)

Right from the start, the reader is thrown smack dab into scenes with heated sibling rivalry, jealousy and yet a deep love that makes them hate yet love each other. I know I am making no sense but people who have sisters will understand what I am saying!

This was my first book by the sister duo writing under the pseudonym, Ellie Campbell and I am so happy to say that it wont be my last from them. The writing is simple, vivid and engrossing. The expertly portrayed  settings and the day-to-day scenarios look so realistic that I felt as if I knew the MacLeod sisters. There irritation with each other, the sudden bursts of jealousy, the ever-present teasing but also the deep rooted care and love for each other made them dear to me.

As the book progressed, I was totally captivated and held at the edge of my seat with curiosity to know what happened next with these four sisters.
Would they find their own respective happily-ever-after?
Would they ever see eye-to-eye on anything?
What impact would the sudden revelation of the old secrets have on their lives?

I loved Peggy, their eccentric mother and the embarrassing yet loving drunkard father. This book had me connecting with all the characters and they stay with you long after we have finished reading the book.

The authors do a brilliant job of balancing family, sibling rivalry, suspense and four romances in one book and keeping the reader engaged till the very end. One can enjoy this book whether they have sisters or not. It is hilarious and entertaining to make it a memorable read.

All in all, I absolutely loved How To Survive Your Sisters and give it 4.5 super shiny stars out of 5. Strongly recommended to everyone, go grab your copy and enjoy. The authors are a talented duo and a happy new addition to my "authors to look out for" list.

I received the book from the authors and I am very thankful to them. The above review is my honest and unbiased opinion and in no way influenced.

~Praise for the Book~

"Enchanting and simply irresistible!
This book has astounded me. For one, this genre is not my cup of tea. Although I love science fiction, I’m not a big fan of fantastical worlds, especially when a medieval type of life is involved. Yet, this book has been a delightful surprise for me.

David Wind has created a world that expresses magic in every way; not just with the sparks and orbs of light that are expelled into the air with every wave and flick of the youngsters’ hands, but also with the suitably old-fashioned dialogue and the masterfully described scenes of the magnificent landscape. This amazing future world is simply irresistible and as I read on, I felt suitably mesmerized by it. I’ve had the best ‘mind trip’ of my life in years with this book. A true gem of its genre. Well done, David Wind!
I’m already looking forward to the next book in the Tales of Navaeh Series as to see what else this highly imaginative author has in store for the reader.
Don’t miss out. If you love fantasy, trust me, you want to read this book!" -

Your house is burning down and you have time to select three books you own to take with you. What three books? - Suggested byAlison Can Read

I think I will be in the danger of getting burnt because I know I will be lost in trying to decide which three books to take and failing miserably. I hope such a situation never arises because I just cant decide only 3 to take with me. I love all my books!
I shudder thinking about such a situation.
Can you decide 3 books to take with you if such a situation arises?

I love reading comics but had somewhere stopped picking them because I could no longer find them in the book stores which was weird but then I saw them at the New Delhi Book Fair! :)
I am so happy these characters which played a major role in making me a book lover are still alive and loved as witnessed by the crowd at the comics stall. Bought myself some collector's editions and am so happy. Also inquired where I could buy them and they are available online with home delivery option at http://www.rajcomics.com/

Visiting the Book Fair had me revisiting my childhood favourites and also introduced me to some new favourites which can be seen by the book load I bought apart from these comics...LOL

How was your week?
