#ARCBookReview and $50 #Giveaway: The Fall of Lord Drayson (Tanglewood #1) by Rachael Anderson

The Fall of Lord Drayson by Rachael Anderson

Who is he really? A high and mighty lord or a lowly servant?
When Colin Cavendish, the new earl of Drayson, informs Lucy Beresford that she and her mother need to vacate the house they’ve called home for the past two years, Lucy is fit to be tied. They have no money, no relations they can turn to for help, and nowhere to go. How dare the earl break the promise his father had made to the Beresfords without so much as a twinge of conscience?
Fate plays her hand when Lucy discovers the earl unconscious and injured in the middle of the road. When he awakens with no recollection of who he is, Lucy seizes the opportunity to teach the earl a much-needed lesson in humility and tells him that he is nothing more than a mere servant. Her servant, in fact.
And thus begins the charming tale of a pompous lord and an impetuous young woman, caught together in a web so tangled that it begs the question: Will they ever get out?

ARC Book Review
The Fall of Lord Drayson by Rachael Anderson is a clean historical romance with an overbearing Lord Drayson and a headstrong heroine, Lucy. Trouble brews when Lord Drayson loses his memory in an accident and Lucy in a bid to teach him a lesson in humility informs him that he is her servant!

I enjoyed reading this light and funny book from Rachael which is unlike the other historical romances that I have read in the past. The plot is conceived and executed expertly and the author had me sitting engrossed till the very end.

The characters are well developed and beautifully complement the story. I enjoyed meeting Colin, Lord Drayson and Lucy Beresford. They are both headstrong and it was fun to watch them fight each other all the while pulled towards one another with the force of their attraction.

Rachael has given an passionate romance without going into explicit intimate scenes which is noteworthy. She builds up the emotions and I laughed, cried and prayed for a happily-ever-after for these lovely people.

The other characters are also fun people, I enjoyed meeting them and look forward to reading their own story in the subsequent books in this series.

All in all, The Fall of Lord Drayson by Rachael Anderson is an entertaining and funny romance that is ideal for a lazy afternoon. I enjoyed reading this story and give it 4 stars out of 5. Recommended to all historical romance lovers, I look forward to reading more from Rachael in the future.

I received an ARC from the author and the tour organizers and I am very thankful to them. The above is my honest and unbiased opinion and in no way influenced.

Excerpt
He stared at her incredulously, as though she had escaped Bedlam. “Are you in your right mind, woman?”
Lucy leaned forward and planted her palms on his bed so that her eyes were level with his. “My name is Lucy Beresford. I have lived in Askern all my life. I’m the sole daughter of a vicar and a seamstress who lived most happily despite their differences in station. When my father passed away, I came here, to this dower house. So yes, I am in my right mind. It is you who are not.”
The earl’s jaw clenched, and Lucy took some pleasure at the sight. Perhaps he would come down off his high horse and show at least a small amount of kindness or respect.
“I may not know who I am or where I came from,” he finally said, “but at least I do not feel the need to tell tales.”
“Tell tales?” Lucy gaped at him. Was he accusing her of telling untruths? Her, of all people? What untruths? How dare he!
Lord Drayson glanced down at his fingers, frowning when he spotted grime under his nails. He began to scrape it out as he spoke. “Claiming to be the daughter of a vicar and seamstress is all very romantic, but it cannot possibly be the truth.”
“And why not?” she asked.
His gaze returned to hers. “In my experience, the daughter of a vicar would behave with more decorum, would know how to make a palatable broth, and would never allow herself to be alone in a room with a man who is not her relative. If there is one thing I know with absolute certainty, it is that you are no relation of mine.”
Lucy’s jaw clenched as she fought to control the rage building inside her. Ever so slowly, she pushed herself up to standing and glared down at the earl. “You are correct in thinking I am no ordinary vicar’s daughter. I do not love unconditionally. I show decorum only when I wish to. And I despise those who care for no one but themselves. But I do not tell tales.”
He actually chuckled, but it was more of a scoff than a show of humor. “Did you learn those traits from your father?”
“Do not speak of my father.”
“I would prefer to speak of myself, but you do not seem to share that preference, so perhaps we should speak of your father instead. Where is he, by the by? I would very much like to meet him.”
Lucy’s fingers became fists while her conscience became a battleground between all that was good and evil inside her. It was a short battle, with evil making a quick triumph.
Ever so slowly, her body still trembling with anger, she lifted her chin. If he was going to accuse her of telling tales, then tell them she would. “Very well, Collins. If you must know, I am your employer. And though you may not remember me, or this house, or your position in it, or the fact that you are perfectly susceptible to coming off a horse, just like any other human, I still expect some kindness and respect from you.”
“What on earth are you talking about? What position?”
There was not a hint of hesitation in her voice when she answered. “You are a servant in this house.”

#BookReview: Kitty Hawk and the Tragedy of the RMS Titanic (Kitty Hawk Flying Detective Agency #4) by Iain Reading

Title and Author: Kitty Hawk and the Tragedy of the RMS Titanic by Iain Reading
No. of Pages: 320
Series: Kitty Hawk Flying Detective Agency #4
Publication Date: February 15th 2014
Genre: Mystery, YA, Teen, Adventure

Book Review:
Kitty Hawk and the Tragedy of the RMS Titanic by Iain Reading is the fourth book in the Kitty Hawk Flying Detective Agency series.

Having read the previous books in this series, I have enjoyed following Kitty on her many adventures and solving the mysteries she encounters.

This book has her travelling to Ireland and solving a mystery that involves the sunken Titanic. Full of intrigue, lovely settings, adventurous and a good mystery, I enjoyed reading the book.

Iain Reading's writing is his usual captivating self and if he sometimes over describes some scenes then it didn't concern me much because he had me engrossed in the story.

The only letdown I felt was with Kitty. I didn't connect with her as much as I would have liked to do and did in the previous books. I liked her but still not as much as I usually do.

The book is fast paced and will be liked by lovers of teenage and YA mysteries with lovely settings and a realistic heroine.

Despite being part of a series, it can be read as a standalone.

All in all, Kitty Hawk and the Tragedy of the RMS Titanic is an engaging mystery and had me entertained throughout. 4 out of 5 to it and I look forward to reading the other Kitty Hawk mysteries,

I received the book from the publishers via Netgalley and I am very thankful to them. The above review is my honest and unbiased opinion and in no way influenced.

ARC Book Review:

Chased by Love by Melissa Foster is the third book in Love in Bloom: The Ryders series and is the story of America's hottest rock star, Boone Stryker and an ambitious Actress Trish Ryder. Thrown together when they decide to work in a movie, this story takes us deeper into the lives of these two characters, away from the glitz and glamour of their jobs and into a slow building but an ever-after kind of love.

Having read the previous book in this series, Claimed by Love, I got interested when I heard about this latest installment. The blurb is interesting and had me intrigued enough to take up reading this book.

The story came as a pleasant surprise for it is unlike the Rockstar romances I have read in the past. It gives more emphasis to the personal lives and conflicts of the protagonists.

Like Melissa Foster's other books, this one too had me enjoying the characters, loving revisiting the old ones and left eager to read the stories of the secondary characters in hopefully the next books in this series!

The story is medium paced and is fluidly written. I sat engrossed and highly entertained by the head butting and battle of wills of the protagonists while they tried to ignore the red hot passion between them. The background story of Boone had me speculating all sorts of tales and yet the author kept surprising me. I enjoyed watching Boone and Trish mature, clear the air and despite all their supposed attempts otherwise- fall in love.

Despite being part of a series, this book can be read as a standalone and being a lover of Melissa Foster's romances, I do recommend that you start on this series, if not already done so.

All in all, Chased by Love by Melissa Foster is an entertaining romance with strong characters, memorable events and a love story that had me laughing, crying and falling in love myself. 4 out of 5 to it and recommended to all romance lovers above the age of eighteen. I look forward to reading more from the author in the future and await the subsequent books eagerly.

I received an ARC from the author and the tour organizers and I am very thankful to them. The above is my honest and unbiased opinion and in no way influenced.

Title and Author: Huckleberry Spring by Jennifer Beckstrand
No. of Pages: 352
Series: The Matchmakers of Huckleberry Hill #4
Publication Date: January 27th 2015 by Zebra
Genre: Amish Romance, Christian Romance
Language: English

Book Review:

Huckleberry Spring by Jennifer Beckstrand is the fourth book in The Matchmakers of Huckleberry Hill series but the first that I have read in this series as well as by this author. Despite being part of a series, It can be read as a standalone and I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

Jennifer Beckstrand has a strong voice and she balanced the various emotional moods in the book with ease. I was able to visualize the settings and connected with the characters instantly.

While many events in the heroine, Emma's life were a bit over the top and sometimes a little unbelievable but still nowhere did I feel bored and enjoyed reading her story. She looked weak with majority time spent in tears but still showed her strength when the time came. Ben is kind and a reliable hero and it was fun reading his story. The romance is full of struggles and tries to send an inspirational message to the readers.

The story is fast paced and the matchmaking grandparents fun. I sat interested until the very end and recommend this book to all lovers of clean romance. 4 out of 5 to Huckleberry Spring by Jennifer Beckstrand and I will be checking out the other books in this series.

#BookReview: Next Stop: Love by Miranda J. Fox

Title and Author: Next Stop: Love by Miranda J. Fox
No. of Pages: 149
Publication Date: September 15th 2015 by Amazon Crossing
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Book Review:
Next Stop: Love by Miranda J. Fox is the first book by the author that I have read and this was a quick, sweet romance.

I was intrigued by the blurb and the cover and decided to give it a try.

The plot is pretty straightforward and I could relate with Sophia who dreams of living her life and this new job in Berlin is her chance to get away from her overbearing mother and live free.

I enjoyed following her as she butted heads with the hero who also later came out to be her new boss and enjoyed the overall banter.

The settings and descriptions are good but I think their effect got a little dampened with the translation which made it sound stilted and dull at times.

While the characterization and development of relationships is good, I felt a bit dissatisfied because no resolution happens with Sophia and her mother and I really wanted to see how they made peace with each other.

All in all, Next Stop: Love by Miranda J. Fox is a light, breezy romance that can be finished in one sitting and will appeal to all die-hard romance lovers. 3.5 out of 5 to it.

#ProductReview: Set of 3 Mat Finish 2.3 Ltrs Storage Containers with Colourful lids by Kurtzy

I have been using a Set of 3 Mat Finish 2.3 Ltrs Storage Containers from Kurtzy and they are really good. In today's post I will be sharing my review of these airtight containers with you all.

My Review:

Things I liked about this product:

1) Kurtzy seller has brought out a set of 3 Mat finish storage containers with colourful, airtight lids that can be used to store a variety of stuff right from cereals, rice, pulses, cookies, sugar, herbs to any other food items that we want to store and keep fresh like I am using one of these jars to store my muesli and others to store cookies and dry fruits.

2) With a storage capacity of 2.3 Ltrs, we can store approximately 2 kgs of food items which is very useful when storing food items in bulk.

3) The containers are also air tight so any food items stored are kept fresh. However, the lids are not a 100% airtight but still they do the job.

4) The make of the jars is not only beautiful and attractive but also makes them occupy less shelf space and I can also easily monitor and refill the items as they are used.

5) High quality plastic is used in the jars and lids.

6) The lids open and close easily and the stored items are kept unspoiled for long. The lids can also be exchanged and they still fit the jars.

7) These Mat Finish storage containers are easily washable and are low maintenance.

8) The pricing is also economic and at 469 INR after discount, I recommend this storage container set to everyone.

9) They also make great gifting option with their lovely design and efficient storage of food.

Things I didn't like about this product:

The delivery was prompt and the packaging sturdy.
The only con is that the packaging was a bit too well done because I could not get the jars that had been stuck inside one another to come apart and had to really work hard to pry them out, all the while afraid of damaging them.

Conclusion:

All in all, I thoroughly love this Set of 3 Mat Finish 2.3 Ltrs Storage Containers with Colourful lids by Kurtzy. This containers have not only come as a blessing for me and store food items efficiently but they also beautify my kitchen with their trendy design. At a pocket friendly price for such high quality product with a big storage capacity of 2.3 Ltrs, I recommend this set to everyone and give it 4.5 stars out of 5. Go buy this set at the current discount of 57% and enjoy!

#BookReview: Paris By Heart by Nora James

"She came to Paris to forget about men, but the city of love has different plans for her..."
This line in the blurb had me so intrigued and add the lovely cover to it, I knew I had to read this book!

Elise has her future finally planned and it definitely doesn't include tutoring the rude Frenchman, Paul who works in the cafe below her apartment. But fate works in mysterious ways and soon these two find themselves facing emotions that can well be called love!

This is a story that is sweet, breezy and feel good yet predictable. You may feel like you know what is going to happen and will be proven right many times but still the story entertains and I loved reading it. Sometimes, one needs a proven, predictable romance to uplift ones mood and this book did just that with me.

The author's writing style is engaging and she brought the lovely Paris to me right here in my home. Her descriptions are vivid and her characters, prople I could relate to. I loved watching Elise and Paul stumble and try to make sense of their feelings which was sweet, sometimes intense but always entertaining.

All in all, Paris By Heart by Nora James is a cute, breezy romance perfect for a lazy afternoon. 4 out of 5 to it from me and recommended to all romance lovers.

#BookReview: Alpha Rising (Sentinels #7) by Doranna Durgin

Alpha Rising by Doranna Durgin is the seventh book in Sentinels series but the first that I have read, The author is also new to me. I got attracted towards this book because of the blurb and decided to give it a try.

In this book, we are taken into the world of shifters who have other abilities too. Lannie is a Sentinel and is attracted towards Holly. Holly, on the other hand, has been brought to Lannie's pack for her own protection but still feels like a kidnapped victim. While attracted towards Lannie's beauty, she still is wary of him.

A dark atmosphere of impending danger, passionate and explosive romance journey and the mysterious world of shifters had me interested in this book throughout.

The author's writing style is also expressive and narrative and I was able to visualize the scenes and scenarios with ease.

All in all, Alpha Rising by Doranna Durgin is an engaging and entertaining fantasy and paranormal romance that I enjoyed and look foward to reading the other books in this series too. 4 out of 5 to it and recommended to all fantasy, paranormal, romance and scifi lovers.

#BookReview: The Way You Love Me (Lawsons of Louisiana #5) by Donna Hill

The Way You Love Me by Donna Hill is the fifth book in Lawsons of Louisiana series but the first that I have read both in this series as well as by this author.

I was attracted towards this book because of the blurb and also because I had heard some good things about it. In this book, we get two strong characters and a realistic story.

Justin is an alpha hero who knows exactly what he wants and is not afraid to work towards his goals. He knew just the things to say and do to win over the still unconvinced Bailey who is not sure of Justin's feelings towards her. He is too powerful, too rich and too everything that she is not. They are worlds apart and still he wants her and claims to love her.

I enjoyed how these characters navigated their insecurities to finally claim their happy ending. The plot is well conceived and executed and all twists and turns are realistic.

The romance is passionate and has intense love scenes that make this book suitable for adults only.

Donna's writing style is fluid and expressive. I enjoyed how she created her story world and look forward to reading more from her in the future.

All in all, The Way You Love Me by Donna Hill is entertaining and passionate romance that I enjoyed reading. 4 out of 5 stars to it and recommended to all adult romance lovers.

Title and Author: Death of the Blue Flower by Roxann Hill
No. of Pages: 324
Publication Date: September 8th 2015 by AmazonCrossing
Genre: Mystery

Book Review:
Death of the Blue Flower by Roxann Hill is the first mystery in a long time that I have read that has been translated into English.

I loved the cover, the title and the blurb and knew I had to read it.

While the plot is very promising, the execution had its ups and downs. In my opinion, some things lost their significance in translation. The mystery element is good but it dips in the middle and then picks up again in the end.

All in all, Death of the Blue Flower by Roxann Hill is an okay mystery that can be read once. 3 out of 5 to it and recommended to mystery lovers.

#BookReview: No Safe Zone by Adite Banerjie

#BookReview: No Safe Zone by Adite Banerjie

No Safe Zone by Adite Banerjie

No. of Pages: 200
Publisher: Harlequin
Publication Date: 28th May 2016
Language: English
Genre: Romantic Suspense

Book Review:

No Safe Zone by Adite Banerjie marks her foray into romantic suspense. Now if have already read her previous two romances, The Indian Tycoon's Marriage Deal and Trouble Has A New Name then you must be as much a fan of her writing as I am. Having loved her previous books, I was eager to checkout her leap into a new genre through this new book and I am so glad to tell you that she builds suspense too with as much ease and finesse as she does romance!

No Safe Zone takes us on a danger and thrill filled roller coaster ride spanning multiple cities. The villains are evil and the protagonists intelligent and brave. Adite has taken up the very sensitive and abhorrent crime of human trafficking especially the trafficking of girls in her book and she has developed her story around it beautifully. I was shocked, angered and saddened reading about this crime against humanity and prayed for the helpless girls caught in this web.

Qiara works for a non-profit organization that works for the well being of poor girls in the remote villages of India but when one of the girls disappears and the organization comes under scrutiny for money fraud, she travels to India to find out the truth, find the missing girl and clear her beloved organization's name.

Kabir is an intelligence officer working on this case. He and Qiara share a romantic turned bitter past and when Qiara witnesses a murder and is chased by the killer, it is he who comes to her rescue. Amidst danger, their romance rekindles but will it last this time?

I loved both Qiara and Kabir. They are both strong characters and totally different from each other, I loved how they fought their attraction but felt helpless to curb their intense feelings for each other. The romance is passionate and hot. Adite balances the emotional and physical aspects of their relationship with ease and I connected with these characters right from the start. The past misunderstandings are also handled admirably and the suspense of that last evening all those years back revealed slowly which had me speculating all sorts of reasons why these two lovebirds didn't get a HEA then and when the reasons did get out, I was left surprised.

The chase of trying to stop the villains behind the trafficking ring as well as staying ahead of the killer had me sitting at the edge of my seat throughout. The scenes are sketched beautifully and I went places with this book. I visited the royalty of Rajasthan and the elite of Delhi, strolled in the markets of Rajasthan and also went to London; sitting right here in my room!

The story is fast paced and had me so engaged that I just could not keep away the book until I had finished reading it. There are well calculated twists and turns added to spice the story.

The only thing that I felt could have been handled better is the end in regards to the villains. They had so much potential and I felt frightened by them especially Rathod but the end for them felt just a little easy seeing as how evil these characters were and the planning the author showed them doing for the "big event".
Anyhow, this is something that I felt and maybe you wont. However, despite this observation, I thoroughly enjoyed the book.

All in all, No Safe Zone by Adite Banerjie is an engaging and enjoyable romantic suspense with memorable characters and a hearty dose of suspense with plenty of danger thrown in for good measure. I loved reading it and give it 4 shiny stars out of 5. Recommended to all lovers of romantic suspense, I absolutely love Adite's suspense writer persona and hope to read lots more suspense from her in the future.

I received the book from the author and publishers, Harlequin and I am very thankful to them. The above review is my honest and unbiased opinion and in no way influenced.
