Publication Date: August 1st 2015
Genre: Coming Of Age, Teen, Young Adult, Romance

Book Review:

When Destinies Collide by Shirl Rickman is the debut book of the author I am so glad I picked it up to read. This is one of those books that stays with you long after you have finished reading it.

I loved the title and the cover that had me picking up the book to checkout the blurb which is again intriguing enough to catch the attention of the readers.

This is the story of two people facing similar tragedies whose paths cross multiple times in their lives.

The plot is well conceived and executed and I loved Shirl's writing style which is heartfelt, fluid and expressive. The world building is realistic and I could visualize the settings that had me easily transported to the book world.

The characterization is admirably done and I could relate with Selene and Drake who are both facing adversities. Right from the start I was rooting for a happily-ever-after for these characters who made a place for themselves in my heart.

There is heartache, longing, sadness but also light moments and heartfelt emotional play that had me hooked throughout.

All in all, When Destinies Collide by Shirl Rickman is an enjoyable story that will touch your heart and leave you feeling myriad emotions. 4 out of 5 to it and recommended to all lovers of heartfelt romances.

No. of Pages: 168
Publication Date: December 29, 2015
Genre: Comics & Graphic, Sci Fi & Fantasy

Blurb:
Michael Knight and KITT -- everyone’s ultimate dream car -- are back in action in this explosive series of spy-fi adventures!

The beloved primetime series returns to comics, picking up right where the high-octane graphic novel reboot left off. From the minds of today’s hottest action writers, KNIGHT STRIKES is the next chapter in the legendary KNIGHT RIDER mythos!

ARC Book Review:
I am a big fan of the Knight Rider series, be it watching on TV or reading the comics. The thrill, adventure and the dangerous but oh so lovely stunts are always sure to keep me entertained. Covetting a car just like KITT, I am in love with this super car and coupled with secret agent Michael Knight, the duo is deadly.

When I heard about this new installment, I just had to pick it up to read and see for myself what these two were up to. KITT and Michael are again saving the country and doing what they do best, while giving us, readers pure entertainment and the thrill of danger while we sit cozy in our home away from true danger.

The plot is well conceived and executed and had me engaged throughout. The images are detailed and well drawn.

The dialogues are fluid and I could relate to the events and felt connected to all the action.

The only issue that I had was with the appearance of the comics in my kindle. The pages were too small to read and I had to click each page to make it bigger and then after reading close the zoomed out image to move to the next page which had me feeling a bit frustrated and losing my flow.

All in all, Knight Rider Vol. 2: Knightstrikes is another electrifying installment in the Knight Rider series and an entertainer. 4 out of 5 to it and recommended to all comics and graphic novels fans.

#BookReview: Tempted by the Billionaire Tycoon by Jennifer St George

Title and Author: Tempted by the Billionaire Tycoon by Jennifer St George
No. of Pages: 151
Publication Date: October 21st 2014 by Penguin Books Australia I Destiny Romance
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Language: English

Book Review:

Tempted by the Billionaire Tycoon by Jennifer St George is the first book by the author that I have read. I got attracted towards it because of the blurb which is interesting and had me intrigued.

This is the story of Poppy, a woman with a past and a whole lot of baggage that force her to keep secrets and be wary of trusting and getting close to anyone. Poppy is the manager of a luxury resort  where some mysterious accidents are happening.

Nic owns the resort and is determined to get to the bottom of the issue and the first thing he wants done is Poppy dismissed! But when he arrives at the resort under a disguise, he soon discovers that Poppy is not at fault.
Sparks fly but amidst all this, there is also someone hell bent on destroying the reputation of his resort.
Can Poppy and Nic catch the culprit and sort out their feelings for each other?

The plot is promising and I enjoyed the story but still at places it felt like the story was not developing as much as it should have. The characters were good and despite the author telling us that they were attracted towards each other, I felt not showing of their romance from the characters themselves. Their feelings and emotions just didn't get developed and I didn't feel connected.

Also Nic's past felt half cooked. He kept hinting at it and I wanted to see some action there but nothing happened.

Poppy's past is better handled and I felt satisfied here. She is a strong character and I liked her. Nic's character had so much potential but he somewhat fell flat.

The suspense of the attacks is handled well and though I guessed the culprit beforehand, I enjoyed watching the protagonists face him. While I enjoyed the climax, I didnt understand the culprit's motivation behind the attack. How would these attacks bring back the person he wanted with him?
Where had that person gone and why?
These were some of the questions I wanted answered better.

All in all, Tempted by the Billionaire Tycoon by Jennifer St George is a light story that you can give a try. It had so much potential but fell shy of achieving its full scope. 3.5 out of 5 to it and recommended to all romance lovers with a hint of suspense.

ARC Book Review:
The Pot Thief Who Studied Georgia O'Keeffe by J. Michael Orenduff is the first book by the author that I have read and I was attracted towards it because of the blurb and the unusual title.

I didnt like the cover much but was intrigued by the blurb and the title enough to pick up the book.

The story is rich in humour, suspense and the mystery element is so beautifully handled that I sat glued to my seat throughout.

The book took me places and the world building is so realistic that it felt like I was actually there, following Hubie Schuze as he scoured New Mexico in search of ancient treasures.

The writing is expressive and fluid and the story is fast paced with well calculated twists to keep the reader engaged. A story with well concocted plot, developed mystery and vibrant characters, I will be reading the other books by the author in the future.

Silent Sentry by Theresa Rizzo is the story of Gianna Donnatelli whose life is in danger and Dr. Joe Scarfili is determined to protect her if she doesn't want his protection.

The story is full of suspense, thrill, mystery and romance and had me engaged right till the end. I loved the blurb which had me picking up this book to read and I am so glad that I did.

#ARCBookReview: The Thirteenth Earl by Evelyn Pryce

Title and Author: The Thirteenth Earl by Evelyn Pryce
No. of Pages: 217
Publication Date: March 22nd 2016 by Montlake Romance
Genre: Historical Romance, Mystery

ARC Book Review:
The Thirteenth Earl by Evelyn Pryce is the first book by the author that I have read. I had heard so much about her and could not resist picking up her latest to read. This one is a historical romance with plenty of mystery.

The cover is intriguing and the blurb even if a bit confusing had enough to appeal me.

The plot is simple and yet complex. The author executes the plot such that she had me engaged throughout.

Jonathan Vane's title is Viscount Thaxton but he is better known as the 'Ghost'. His whole line has been unfortunate with happiness, going mad without fail and he is determined to be stop this madness streak with him. Cassandra Seton will finally see and marry her fiancĂ©, Miles Markwick after a separation of nine years. But one evening changes the lives of these three.
There is supernatural feel to the story with romance between Jonathan and Cassandra thrown in between.

While I enjoyed the whole mysterious feel to the story, the romance between Jonathan and Cassie had me second guessing myself. They go back and forth with their feelings and had me confused at times.

The story is fast paced and I really enjoyed the drama at places and got a bit bored at other places.

Evelyn's writing style is a blend between the Austen style and the modern romance writing. She is expressive and builds the atmosphere beautifully.

All in all, The Thirteenth Earl by Evelyn Pryce is entertaining but difficult to rate. I enjoyed parts of it and recommend it to all mystery and historical romance lovers. 3.5 out of 5 to it. Go read and share your thoughts on the book with me.

#BookReview: The Deputy's Redemption (Sweetwater Ranch #5) by Delores Fossen

The Deputy's Redemption by Delores Fossen is the fifth book in her intriguing and must read Sweetwater Ranch series. I have been following this series and there is a background mystery running in all the books in this series apart from the separate mysteries that change per book.

In this book too, I was kept on the edge of my seat throughout. There is so much action, danger, suspense and intense romance happening in the story that I just could not keep the book down until I finished it.

Delores Fossen's writing style is fluid and she expertly builds and executes her mysteries while staying one step ahead at all times. I have come to love her writing and she is an author I will be following and recommend to everyone.

#BookReview: Cowboy Behind the Badge (Sweetwater Ranch #2) by Delores Fossen

Title and Author: Cowboy Behind the Badge by Delores Fossen
No. of Pages: 224
Series: Sweetwater Ranch #2
Publication Date: October 1st 2014 by Harlequin Intrigue
Genre: Romantic Suspense

Book Review:
Cowboy Behind the Badge by Delores Fossen is the second book in the Sweetwater Ranch series and having already enjoyed reading the first book, Maverick Sheriff, I was eager to start on this one.

Another lovely and thrilling romantic suspense from Delores Fossen, this book narrates the story of Texas Ranger Tucker McKinnon and Laine Braddock whom we met in the first book and know that they were once lovers and now separated because of the enmity between their families. But when danger brings Laine to Tucker's door, he is determined to save her.

While this book is a separate story but still there is a background story of Laine's father's murder and the prime suspect is Tucker's mother who had an affair with him at the time of the murder. So I would recommend reading the books in order.

The story is fast paced and full of action, thrill, suspense and a passionate romance between two headstrong characters. The characterization is admirably done and after the first book, I already felt closer to the Braddock and McKinnon family who due to their parent's mistake is now at loggerheads despite having been friends once.

Tucker and Laine had me wishing that they solved their problems and came together like they were meant to be.

The danger part is beautifully developed by the author and she had me at the edge of my seat, speculating the next twist right till the end.

All in all, Cowboy Behind the Badge by Delores Fossen is an entertainer and I enjoyed reading it. 4 out of 5 to it and recommended to all romantic suspense lovers. I am now eager to read the other books in this series.

#BookReview: In My Dreams (Manning Family Reunion #1) by Muriel Jensen

Title and Author: In My Dreams by Muriel Jensen
No. of Pages: 194
Series: Manning Family Reunion #1
Publication Date: Harlequin Heartwarming (1st January 2015)
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Language: English

Book Review:

In My Dreams by Muriel Jensen attracted me because of the cover and the intriguing title. The blurb is again very interesting and had me picking up this book to read.

This is the story of an ex-soldier, Jack who is searching for his biological sisters and a former Pediatric nurse, Sarah Reed. Both these people have faced traumas in their past that have shaped their present. While Sarah left her career behind following the death of a patient she blames herself of, Jack faced the harsh realities of battle and a traumatic event in his childhood separated him from his sisters. In this book, how these two broken souls help each other heal and find closure to their quest of happiness is beautifully shown by the author.

I loved this book and connected with both Sarah and Jack. Jack's search for his long lost sisters had me praying for their reunion soon and Sarah's fears had me understanding her and empathizing with her. The romance between these two characters is beautifully and poignantly shown and had me rooting for a happy end for them.

The added suspense and thrill of searching for Jack's biological family was another attraction of this story and had me glued to me seat throughout.

The author's writing style is engaging and fluid and she brought the story to me right in my home, making me feel a part of all the action.

The only issue that I had with this book is that the author doesn't give much time to developing Sarah and Jack's love story. They just sort of have an insta love which seemed a bit out of sorts because at one time Sarah is just a friend of Jack's brother and then suddenly she is helping Jack overcome his nightmares and behaving like a girlfriend! However, despite this, I loved these characters but had this aspect been developed properly I know the story would have been even more stunning!

I loved Jack's brother through adoption and was intrigued by Jack's biological sister and look forward to reading their own stories.

All in all,  In My Dreams by Muriel Jensen is a touching and entertaining story of a man's search for his lost family, a woman's search for redemption and their poignant love story where they will not only heal each other but also finally forgive themselves. 4 out of 5 to it and recommended to all romance lovers.

The Last-Chance Maverick by Christyne Butler is the fourth book in Montana Mavericks: 20 Years in the Saddle series but the first that I have read in this series as well as by the author. Although part of a series, the book can be read as a standalone.

#BookReview: Deception Lake (The Gates #4) by Paula Graves

Deception Lake by Paula Graves is the fourth book in The Gates series but the first that I have read. The story can be read as a standalone without any problem.

I was attracted towards it because of the title and the blurb. Add the lovely and intriguing cover and this book is sure to attract readers.

There is suspense, romance, lots of action and danger in this book that had me sitting glued to my seat throughout. I loved the protagonists and all through the book, the author kept me uncertain of who to trust!

#BookReview: The Crossword Murder (Crossword Mysteries #1) by Nero Blanc

Title and Author: The Crossword Murder by Nero Blanc
No. of Pages: 320
Series: Crossword Mysteries #1
Publication Date: October 1st 2000 by Berkley
Genre: Mystery, Crime, Puzzles

Book Review:
The Crossword Murder by Nero Blanc is the first book by the author that I have read and this one was definitely a different kind of mystery.

Involving a lot of crossword puzzles that are skillfully used in solving the mystery, this book exercised my mind. However, some puzzles were very difficult and I had to skip them so later I thought, it would have been better had the author given these puzzles at the end of the book too so I could come back, easily find them and solve at my leisure.

The plot is pretty clean but has some very calculated twists and turns. The author's writing style is engaging and I was left speculating the solution till the end.

All in all, The Crossword Murder by Nero Blanc is a mystery that will have you working to solve the case by solving puzzles to get the next clue. 3.5 out of 5 to it and recommended to all mystery and crossword lovers.
