Book Review and Giveaway--> A Bakeshop Mystery #1- Meet Your Baker by Ellie Alexander

Welcome to my blog tour stop for Meet Your Baker by Ellie Alexander. This is a cozy mystery that released December 30th.

Be sure to check out the schedule for the list of reviews, interviews and guest posts by the author! The tour starts January 5th and runs through the 16th.

Welcome to Torte—a friendly, small-town family bake shop where the treats are so good that, sometimes, it’s criminal…

After graduating from culinary school, Juliet Capshaw returns to her quaint hometown of Ashland, Oregon, to heal a broken heart and help her mom at the family bakery. The Oregon Shakespeare Festival is bringing in lots of tourists looking for some crumpets to go with their heroic couplets. But when one of Torte’s customers turns up dead, there’s much ado about murder…

"Sure to satisfy both dedicated foodies and ardent mystery lovers alike."

―Jessie Crockett, author of Drizzled with Death

The victim is Nancy Hudson, the festival’s newest board member. A modern-day Lady Macbeth, Nancy has given more than a few actors and artists enough reasons to kill her…but still. The silver lining? Jules’s high school sweetheart, Thomas, is the investigator on the case. His flirtations are as delicious as ever, and Jules can’t help but want to have her cake and eat it too. But will she have her just desserts? Murder might be bad for business, but love is the sweetest treat of all…

"Alexander weaves a tasty tale of deceit, family ties, delicious pastries, and murder.” ―Edith Maxwell, author of A Tine to Live, A Tine to Die

Book Review:
Meet Your Baker is a fun, light and cozy mystery set in the small yet very interesting town of Ashland where everything reminds us of the quaint villages in Agatha Christie's mysteries. The cover is interesting and it was this that caught my eye the first time I heard about the book!
The blurb is also very intriguing and instantly made me want to pick this book up to read. Being a big fan of mysteries, I felt compelled to pick up and test this mystery!

The first thing that struck me when I started reading the book is the author's easy and engaging style of writing. Ellie is able to create a vivid picture of the settings and the events in the minds of the readers and made me feel like I was watching a movie. The mystery part is well handled and sufficient clues and twists dropped at strategic points in the story.

The characters are well drawn out and developed and I felt connected to them. Jules was my favourite character in the book. I loved her practical and inquisitive mind. Following her made me feel like I was there solving the mystery and could feel the adrenaline rush in my body. The excitement of solving the murder mystery kept me at the edge of my seat till the very end.
The murderer was very unexpected but I am happy to say that I nailed him/her before the final disclosure. Yay! :)

All in all, Meet Your Baker was a very entertaining read and I absolutely loved it. 4.5 out of 5 to Meet Your Baker and strongly recommended to all lovers of cozy mysteries. This book is set in a town that will make you fall in love with it and add the yummy recipes that are being baked here, the book is a must-have on your book shelf. Ellie Alexander is a promising author and I am so happy to have discovered her. I look forward to reading her next book in the series, A Batter of Life and Death which will release in June 2015.

I received a copy of the book from the author and the tour organizers from NetGalley and I am very thankful to them. The above review is my honest and unbiased opinion and in no way influenced.
