Alpha wolf Selenka Durev’s devotion to her pack is equaled only by her anger at anyone who would harm those under her care. That currently includes the empaths who’ve flowed into her city for a symposium that is a security nightmare, a powder keg just waiting for a match.

Ethan Night is an Arrow who isn’t an Arrow. Numb and disengaged from the world, he’s loyal only to himself. Alpha Night by Nalini Singh is the fourth book in the Psy-Changeling Trinity Series.

Alpha Night by Nalini Singh Review:

Alpha Night by Nalini Singh is the fourth book in the Psy-Changeling Trinity” series and this one has the readers swooning over Psy Arrow Ethan Night. Selenka, alpha of the most powerful wolf pack in Russia and Ethan Night, an Arrow who was tortured to turn him into a killing machine come together in this latest romance set in the “Psy-Changeling” world.

Nalini Singh always manages to astound me with her stories. Every time I think that I have seen it all and there is nothing new that the author can bring to the stories, I am pleasantly proved wrong every single time. With a dangerous enemy on the scene, bonds are tested and loyalties challenged in this absolutely engrossing new paranormal romance.

Things I loved about Alpha Night by Nalini Singh:

I loved everything about this book. The feels, the emotional play, the passion and the vivid narration had me hooked throughout and then left smiling with a satisfaction that comes after reading a good book.

Two alpha protagonists is a new angle in this book. While Ethan isn’t alpha in the true sense, he is alpha in his own right. Selenka, on the other hand is the alpha of BlackEdge wolf pack. I have been looking forward to an alpha heroine for so long and Selenka is everything badass and a protector. She won my heart and am sure will win yours too.

If you are a true threat to me or mine, I will tear out your throat and walk away with your blood on my claws- and in my mouth.” She brushed one claw over his lips.

But if you’re not…well, zaichik, then we’ll play.”

Quotes from Alpha Night by Nalini Singh

Ethan had my heart racing. Not only because of his attractive looks but also because of the concern I felt over his psyche and anger towards people who had turned him into a man who thought himself as damaged.

I am permanently damaged in ways that affect my psychic balance…”

Quotes from Alpha Night by Nalini Singh

The chemistry between Ethan and Selenka is the silent, intense and scorching kind. The non-verbal cues are as effective as the verbalized and demonstration kinds. I fell in love with the difficult yet possessive love between the protagonists that came as a surprise but was never doubted.

Inside him, the dark heat coalesced into an ignition point that flared to searing brightness, its tendrils spreading in a wave of color and heat and pain. The door to the cold place didn’t slam shut. No, it was obliterated from within by the tendrils that wove around the flame, as liquid gold as Selenka’s eyes. He watched her with unyielding focus even as shards of white-hot angony thrust into his brain.”

Ethan had chosen.”

Quotes from Alpha Night by Nalini Singh

“The Architect” is the new villain on the scene and the author admirably plays to bring anticipation for the real identity of the enemy. While she doesn’t disclose the identity, enough clues are left throughout the book that you can make an educated guess.

Another difference is the pacing. The whole story span is shorter than the other books and I, for one, loved this development. The events are without major gaps and this enhanced my reading pleasure .

Things that I feel can be made better:

The only thing that I miss in the “Psy-Changeling Trinity” series is the bonding with packs I developed in the “Psy-Changeling” series. Here in every book, a new pack is introduced – StoneWater in SILVER SILENCE, BlackSea in OCEAN LIGHT, and now BlackEdge in ALPHA NIGHT. So a reader doesn’t get that much invested in the packs, their members, their dynamics with other packs like we did when we only read stories revolving around DarkRiver and SnowDancer in the “Psy-Changeling” series. I miss that bonding.

Despite this, I adore all the new packs and the new characters that are introduced. Meeting characters from the previous books is a bonus that I always lookout for when reading the new books.

Conclusion:

All in all, Alpha Night by Nalini Singh is a through and through entertainer that had me hooked fish, line and sinker right from start to finish. A must-read, I give 5 out of 5 super shiny stars to it and Njkinny Recommends this Paranormal/Fantasy Romance to all lovers of this genre above the age of eighteen.
