The Eligible Princess by Summerita Rhayne Book Review:

This is the second book in the Kamboj Princesses Saga but my first read of the series. Despite being part of a series, it can be read as a standalone.

Book Cover and Blurb:

I loved the sketched cover of the book. And then was intrigued by the blurb which gave a glimpse of an intense story with a headstrong heroine, an alpha hero and their hurdles filled romance set in the rich historical background of India.

The Eligible Princess by Summerita Rhayne Book Summary:

Intrigued and full of expectations of a lovely story, I was not let down by the book.

Princess Lakshaya is of marrying age and supposed to be the eligible Princess except that she is not like the other simpering, coy and simpleton Princesses whose only interest is in maintaining their looks and waiting to get married. No sir, she is independent, a scientist and a woman who has varied tastes that involve war strategies and the like, much to the chagrin of her parents, the King and the Queen. Rejected by many Princes, she is almost sure that she doesn’t want to marry those egoist Princes who only want a fluff brained Princess but all her assumptions of all Princes being the same is tested when King Kartikeya comes seeking marriage to her. Instant attraction flares along with constant bickering between these two. Both have their own reasons for their actions. Intense, sensual with great characterization, a meticulous plot and engaging writing, The Eligible Princess by Summerita Rhayne held me captive until the very last page was read!

Plot of the book:

The author has researched the era she uses in the book. The settings, situations and behaviour of the characters fits flawlessly in that time without looking artificial. The challenges towards getting a happy ending are thrown with calculation which kept my interest in the book intact.

Protagonists:

The protagonists develop into people I loved and wouldn’t mind meeting while the two supporting characters also got their fair share of limelight, making themselves dear to me without encroaching on the spotlight given to the protagonists.

Writing style:

Having read “Against All Rules” by the author, I already loved Summerita’s simple yet engaging style of writing where she doesn’t fear taking risks and comes all out even when she is writing a detailed intimate scene. Here too, she gives a complexity to the relationships of the characters. The hero and the heroine love each other but their wills still clash, making them butt heads and then even go through hell, irrespective of the fact that for all their miseries they, themselves, are responsible!

I absolutely adored each and every page in the story and the end left me sniffling with a goofy, big smile on my face.

Things that could be better:

The only thing that I think is a drawback is the lack of glossary for words that are related to the historical vocabulary used in this book  and which I didn’t know the meaning of.

Conclusion:

All in all, The Eligible Princess by Summerita Rhayne is an entertaining and enjoyable historical romance. So, I give it 4.5 out of 5 stars and recommend it all the lovers of historical romance. It’s a definite must read.
