Book Review:
When We Met by Susan Mallery takes us to the small and quaint town of Fool’s Gold where we meet Taryn and Angel Whittaker.

I loved the cover of the book which when combined with the author’s name had me picking up the book to check it out. The blurb is interesting and instantly intrigued me. Also I had heard so much about the Fool’s Gold series.

Although part of a series, this book can be read as a standalone. I enjoyed visualizing the vivid, quaint and lovely town that Susan sketches so beautifully in the book and soon wanted to go visit it myself!

The plot is simple but the execution is admirable which makes the story memorable and very enjoyable.

The characterization is trademark Susan Mallery with their own flaws, stubbornness, then some lovely mix of romance, charm and mystery. I enjoyed both Angel and Tamryn’s characters. Both have their own pasts and their own difficulties but every problem fades when they come together. The romance is both sensual and heartfelt and had me rooting for a HEA for them.

It was interesting to read about two people both from big cities who ultimately find themselves in a small town, the adjustments they make and the at-home feel they get here.

I wanted to know the mystery behind Angel’s scars but no closure is given in the book which was disappointing.

Susan’s writing style is crisp, vivid and had me engrossed right till the end. The story is fast paced and had me hooked right till the end.

All in all, When We Met by Susan Mallery is another recommended read from the author. 4 out of 5 to it and recommended to all lovers of romance. I know I will be checking out the other books in this series soon.

I received the book from the publishers via Netgalley and I am very thankful to them. The above review is my honest and unbiased opinion and in no way influenced.
