Run by an Indian couple, this resort caters to the elite and it is here that all the action happens in this book. A tech billionaire, Neal Deparco and his wife come for a romantic weekend but the arrival of an eco-activist group planning a stealth operation and a vicious storm unlike any seen in a hundred years, wreaks havoc and causes a comedy of errors in this romantic thriller by SMoss.
Things I liked:
I was sucked into the story right from the start. The author’s simple yet fluid narration and his vivid sketches included in the book had me visualizing Arborea easily. I fell in love with this cozy resort and felt like I was there. Given a chance, I would definitely love to visit Arborea for real for a relaxing vacation!
The easy connection I made with the characters and their back stories is another highlight of this book. Both Jimmy and Priya, Indian hoteliers and owners of Arborea are such a beautiful example of a perfect couple and their back stories took me through a learning journey of ups and downs, and taught me so much about handling challenges and emerging the winner without losing out on the important things in life like love, contentment, humility, and taking joy in our work. Also the insightful and lyrical description of India and its culture is a delight to read, made all the more impactful because they come from a foreigner. I laughed, smiled, and felt so much joy seeing my country through the eyes of a foreigner.
I loved how the unexpected events that lead to misunderstandings, dangerous developments, romantic intrigue, and mishaps in the story changed the characters and the realizations they had at the end. A reader will learn so much about human nature through these artfully created and developed realistic characters like a workaholic, self-centered Billionaire; an arrogant food critic; and a sassy and talented chef.
Author also touches on the role of media.

The author also touches on the intrusive role of the media that doesn’t hesitate to invade privacy, and make mole hills of practically nothing just to increase their popularity.
This book reads like a romp with an engaging story line, enchanting narration, and a suspense that will keep you hooked throughout. Another plus of this book is that there isn’t a single death in the story despite so much danger and action. The end is happy and oh so satisfying!

Conclusion:
A fast paced, well-planned story that expertly combines emotional play with a comic element, I loved each second spent reading it and was left with a wide smile at the end.
All in all, I absolutely enjoyed reading Arborea by SMoss and can easily see it getting adapted into a movie or a TV series. A perfect book for readers looking for a winsome suspenseful story with romantic intrigue ideal for leisurely afternoon reading. 5 out of 5 super shiny stars to it and Njkinny recommends this romantic thriller to everyone!
I have read and adored SMoss’ books in the past and he showcases his storytelling prowess again through this book. So don’t miss checking out this very talented author and his books.
