Book Review:

A Walk in the rain by Udai Yadla is the author’s debut book and is the story of Sunny who faces many tragedies in his life that shape him and of Saloni, a prostitute who is desperate to earn money through any means. They hate each other but still are pulled together through circumstances which lead to intense emotional upheaval with plenty of mystery and adventure.

The plot of the story is well thought of and executed. The characters are intense and complex with multiple shades. I found them in the grey area and experienced a range of emotions towards them. These are brutally honest portrayals of real life people and I congratulate the author on bringing them to life so admirably.

The pace of the story is maintained along with the mystery and emotional angle. The narration is fluid and scene building again noteworthy but at some places the author loses track and seemed rambling which could have been curbed. The length of the story could have been easily shortened.

This book is quite different from the other books that I have read recently and has much to offer to the readers. It cant be placed neatly in any genre. It is not completely a romance nor can it be termed a thriller/mystery. There are shades of many genres in the book with an adventurous killer hunt, an attraction between unlikely characters and a heart crushing emotional journey.

All in all, A Walk in the rain by Udai Yadla is a noteworthy debut and a different kind of book. Recommended to all readers especially young adult lovers, I give it 4 stars out of 5 and look forward to reading more from the author in the future.

I received the book from the author via Writers Melon Review Program and I am very thankful to them. The above is my honest and unbiased review and in no way influenced.
