One Monsoon in Mumbai by Anitha Perinchery Book Review:
I had randomly bought it enticed by the title and was bowled over. So, Anitha Perinchery’s One Monsoon in Mumbai came as a surprise to me!
Adhith Verma has been best friends with Vikram Joshi since childhood and together they own a top cyber security firm in Mumbai. Since he is the son of the Finance Minister, Adhith is charming, well-dressed and is being groomed to take his place in Indian politics in a few years. He is also Seema’s target but every time she tries to extract information, she is thwarted by Vikram, a grumpy genius who is always two-steps ahead of her in foiling all her hacking moves. Then there is the sexual tension between her and Vikram.
Also there is her interfering aunt who is determined to save her from the bad influence of these two men!
What I loved:
A thrilling book that kept me glued to my seat throughout, I loved badass Seema who is determined to successfully complete her first mission to infiltrate a cyber security firm and get information from the suspect’s computer. But faced with an overprotective aunt; a cyber security prodigy who also happens to be the suspect’s best friend; and then the suspect himself, her life is complicated. Add the unwanted attraction she feels towards the aforementioned best friend of the suspect, Vikram Joshi and the challenges in her path seem unending!
I loved the world building, the character development and the perfect balance between romance and suspense in this book. There are multiple sub-plots running simultaneously along with the main plot and nowhere did I feel confused or bored. Every character has hidden depths and a back story to keep the readers invested and connected with them. I enjoyed meeting Vikram’s family and the dysfunctional dynamics had me intrigued to know more about them. The romance is heartfelt and had me rooting for a happily-ever-after for them. There is also another romance in this book but I won’t disclose that. You have to read the book to know more. However, I will just say that I was totally knocked over and left with a goofy smile at the end of the book.
The book is professionally edited and enhanced my reading experience with no errors encountered.
Conclusion:
All in all, One Monsoon in Mumbai is a perfect monsoon read and perfect for all romance, suspense and thriller fans. This is the author’s debut book and she does a stellar job of bringing out a unique and entertaining book that readers can read any number of times. So, 5 out of 5 stars to it and Njkinny recommends it all lovers of romance, suspense, thriller and spy stories. So, go read it now!
