Book Summary of Seduced by a Devil by Wendy Vella:

Seduced by a Devil by Wendy Vella is the first book in her brand new series, “The Deville Brothers“. The Deville brothers are rich, loyal to their country, part of a secret alliance forged centuries ago to protect their King, and devilishly handsome. This is Gabriel Deville, the eldest Deville brother and the Earl of Raine’s story.

Gabriel Deville has single handedly raised his three younger brothers and sister ever since his parents death. Devoted to his responsibility to his siblings and to his country, he has no time for love but when his sister asks him to find her friend and former piano teacher, Dimity Brown, he is forced to acknowledge his true feelings. She has always riled him but when he fear her life in danger, the emotions these thoughts elicit point at his deeper feelings for the stubborn woman.

Dimity has always prided herself on being honest and independent and even if it means living in the slums and going empty stomach, she is not ready to accept charity from the cantankerous Earl of Raine. Both deny their feelings but with danger looming, they will have to take a side!

What I liked:

I recently found Wendy Vella’s books through a friend who recommended reading the Sinclair and Raven Series and wow! I was hooked!

When I heard of this new release, I jumped to read it and enjoyed meeting the Deville brothers!

Poles apart in personality and yet the same in their loyalty, kindness, and passion, the Deville Brothers have made a place in my heart. I loved Gabriel and was thoroughly entertained by his interactions with his siblings, and the love they share for each other.

I liked Dimity in places. Sometimes I felt sorry for her and even proud but then the next moment I also wanted to shake her for her unwarranted stupidity. It is one thing to be independent and another to be rude when people are trying to help you. While In somewhat understood her motivations behind this behaviour, still she could have behaved better.

Apart from these bouts of stupidity, Dimity is a likeable character who has been dealt a cruel hand. Harassed by her brother, shocked at the revelations about her birth and the mystery surrounding her real identity, I was intrigued and stayed glued wanting to know more.

While the author introduces the spy angle in this book, this angle is not used here. Maybe, we will get it in the subsequent books and I am excited to see what the author brings to the readers.

Conclusion:

The romance is enjoyable and the suspense gripping. I loved the protagonists but for once I was more interested in their interactions with the other characters. We even meet the Raven and Sinclair families and it was such a pleasure. I felt like meeting old friends and loved reading about their happy lives now.

All in all, Seduced by a Devil by Wendy Vella is a fun, suspenseful and entertaining regency romance that will be liked by all historical romance lovers. 4 out of 5 stars to it and Njkinny recommends that you read this first book in a brand new promising series. I have read better from the author so I am taking away one star. Go read this book now and fall in love with the Deville Brothers!
