Blood Trail by Ruchi Singh Book Review:

I have been following the “Undercover” series since the first book,The Bodyguardand absolutely loved all the books so far. With high octane danger, spine tingling suspense, and sizzling romance this series has become a favourite of mine.

So, when I heard that a new book was coming in this awesome series, I happily preordered Blood Trail by Ruchi and jumped right into it!

Things I liked:

Continuing her trend of writing action packed, full of suspense stories, this book also has plenty of heart thumping action, suspense and red hot romance. Blood Trail by Ruchi Singh will have you fanning yourself one second, and then sitting forward in your seat all agog with interest!

The plot is exciting and captivating. Ruchi’s narration is vivid and fluid. So, I was sucked into the story right from the start.

Characterisation:

Trisha and Armaan are both strong, independent and complex characters. Both have a painful past that has shaped them into the people they are today. While Armaan became a law officer and a spy, Trisha became a Doctor with an agenda of her own.

Every scene with them together is memorable and sizzling. I swooned, sighed in delight, and blushed as I followed them. The author has splendidly handled all the emotions be it heartbreak, guilt, a battle between love and duty, and a war between love for family and a sense of right towards a stranger.

Even the supporting characters are also given their due page space and I loved Armaan’s brother, Trisha’s brother and neighbour.

The villains are also sketched in a practical and realistic light and they will give you the creeps.

Things that could be better:

While I enjoyed this book, several grammar errors like missing words, wrong usage of words did irritate me a little. At one point, it felt like the author had been in a hurry to finish her story and didn’t give time to proper editing. But these errors can be easily rectified with another round of editing.

Then I felt that the romance lacked a depth that I wanted to see because the main emphasis was on the suspense part. I feel more page space should have been given to Trisha and Armaan to develop their love story and create a deeper emotional connect with readers.

The villains were sketched as some kind of super criminals who had been evading the authorities for so long but then suddenly everything fell apart. While the end was wrapped adequately I felt a need to know more about their past, their motivations, and a more detailed knowledge of how they had been committing the crimes so successfully. The author also touches on a sensitive yet taboo topic but doesn’t elaborate on it.

Conclusion:

All in all, Blood Trail by Ruchi Singh is an edgy romantic suspense with a passionate and explosive romance, and a fierce pace of events that will have you on tenterhooks throughout. 4 out of 5 super shiny stars to it and Njkinny recommends this entertaining and fast story to all crime, mystery, thriller, and hot romance lovers. I was sucked in right from the start and finished this engaging book in one sitting. And then was left wanting more!

I look forward to reading Karan’s, Armaan’s younger brother, story soon and am hoping we get to meet Armaan and Trisha again in the future books.
