Beneath the Lies by Sapna Bhog is Aaliya and Damien’s story. Happily married for five years, Aaliya’s life changes forever when she comes to know of her husband’s accident in England and with it the secrets he has hidden from her!

This was my first book by Sapna Bhog. I got attracted towards it because of the blurb that promised a gripping suspenseful romance, and I am so happy to tell you that this book delivers on the promise and then some. An amnesiac Duke, hidden secrets worth killing for, a dangerous unknown villain, inter-cultural romance, a strong woman’s fight to bring her love home, and a man’s confusion trying to connect his version of the past to that of someone else’s, I adored every second spent reading this page-turner set in India and England.

Aaliya won my respect. She is a strong character who is willing to go to the ends of the Earth to keep her family together. The sacrifices she makes, the risks she takes and the heartache she bears while staying strong and focused on her aim of getting Damien to remember their love and life together, brought tears to my eyes.

Damien is swoony, handsome and a fitting partner for Aaliya. His determination to solve the mystery of his family’s past secrets and to take on his responsibilities as a Duke are admirable. The romance is red hot and will have you fanning yourself. 

Damien’s best friend, Gabriel is another strong character who I loved. I would so love to read his own story!

Final Verdict:

All in all, I sat glued to this very engaging romantic suspense that had me guessing throughout and then left me wanting more of Aaliya and Damien. 4.5 out of 5 stars to this first installment in “Forgotten Trilogy”. Njkinny recommends this gripping story to all romantic suspense and romance lovers above the age of eighteen. Go read it now and I am going to hop over to read the next book, “Beyond the Truth”, that continues the love story of Aaliya and Damien and brings the readers closer to the identity of the unknown villain!
